Fossil Warrior Skull King
– #BLAR-EN006
1 Rock monster + 1 Level 7 or higher monster
Must first be Special Summoned with “Fossil Fusion”. This card can make a second attack during each Battle Phase. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. During your opponent’s turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 monster in your opponent’s GY; discard 1 card, and if you do, Special Summon that monster to your field. You can only use this effect of “Fossil Warrior Skull King” once per turn.

King of Lullaby Hello Pojo Fans, Fossil Warrior Skull King wraps up the week and is the stronger of the two Fossil Warrior Fusion monsters packages. With Fossil Fusion the requirements for your opponent to meet are much easier, more players playing Level 7 or higher monsters. The Rock monster for you fits within the archetype, and Weathering Soldier continues to be your best choice. Piercing damage and a second attack each Battle Phase ensures you’ll be forcing some damage through somehow and clearing out monsters with Skull King’s 2800ATK. The 1-for-1 Monster Reborn for your opponent’s graveyard during their turn is the best effect King has and an interesting way of potential disruption. If they used something that triggers upon summon, or something that has a Quick-Effect, you’ll benefit from that as well. At the very least you will be walling up with the monster you can bring back as well as putting a card in your grave to use later. Weathering Soldier will trigger off of Skull King to help refill your grave for another Fossil Fusion summon, and if this is being run as a Fusion package in a deck not revolving around Rock monsters, your grave could be getting set up within your own strategy. The 1-for-1 can become a plus in your favor quickly depending on your strategy and all you need is a Fossil Fusion and a Rock monster of your own (as well as a little help from your opponent). It is the best choice for Fossil Fusion so far and can be a help no matter what strategy plays it because of that 1-for-1. Advanced-4/5 Art-4/5 Until Next Time |
Crunch$G We end this week of Fossil nostalgia with the intended boss for Fossils that doesn’t require monsters in the opponent’s graveyard specifically: Fossil Warrior Skull King. Skull King is a Level 8 EARTH Rock Fusion with 2800 ATK and 1300 DEF. Better stats for a stronger Fusion and again that lovely Type and Attribute that synergize well with each other. The summoning requirements are any Rock and any Level 7 or higher monster, which again I like them going with the Tag Force requirement and didn’t make it need a Warrior like in the anime, and this does give better range with Levels 7 to 12, but you’ll more likely see a Level 7, 8, or maybe 9/10 be used with this and it might be harder to setup considering those bigger monsters are more likely going to be on field than in grave, meaning you’d have to out them first to summon this. It must be summoned with Fossil Fusion, which is fine and Time Stream lets you use Skull Knight for this, which is good to setup a pop and let this do bigger damage. This card can straight up make a second attack during each Battle Phase, so it doesn’t have to destroy anything to do so which is much better and means you can possibly get 2 direct attacks in. It also does piercing, which is better on a 2800 body than it is 2400 without a doubt. Finally you got a Quick Effect on the opponent’s turn to target a monster in their graveyard to discard a card and revive their monster to your field. Great way to steal an opponent’s monster for more damage and it’s good that the discard isn’t a cost, possibly triggering your Weathering Soldier or making this less painful if it gets negated. It’s fitting a boss monster doesn’t have a grave effect since it’s the least likely to end up there. The revival is a hard once per turn, which makes it balanced so you aren’t stealing all the opponent’s monsters. Skull King is a worthy boss for Fossils and is a must for you playing the engine I feel due to its sheer power, you just got to hope you can get one of yours or your opponent’s Level 7+ monsters in grave to summon it or have a Time Stream or two if you have to summon a smaller Fusion. Alex Searcy Closing the week, we move from Skull Knight to Skull King. Level 8, Earth/Rock, 2800 attack here and 1300 defense. Good attack for a Level 8, and the defense is still blah. Still needs to be originally brought out via Fossil Fusion. No real problem and it’s appropriate given his younger brother. Piercing Damage is still present, as is the ability to make a second attack, however, here, it doesn’t have to be in a row. Also attached is a Quick Effect Said effect lets you once per turn Target a Monster in your opponent’s Graveyard and Special Summon it to your side of the Field; so long as you discard one card. Nice, honest 1-for-1 trade there and taking opponent’s Monsters is always a good thing. It’s very awesome to be a Quick Effect, making it so much easier to use and hit the opponent with. It’s stronger, faster, and better than his Knight companion, and I’m a fan for sure. Rating: 4.5/5 Art: 5/5 Still really cool. He’s grown up, looks meaner, and has a bigger sword. Don’t mess with him. |
