Hello Pojo Fans,

Edge Imp Scythe is a quick and easy way to get to your Frightfur Fusion Monsters.

Scythe can be used to Fusion Summon one of five Frightfur Fusion Monsters, a good chunk of the Frightfur lineup in the Extra Deck. Not needing a Fusion Spell or Poly is what makes this card fantastic along with it being a Quick-Effect. Getting a boss monster from your Extra Deck without having anything on the field during your opponents turn is a win-win. Whale has spot removal, Daredevil does burn upon destruction of an opponents monster, and Dangerous Frightfur Nightmary has negation power. The other two Frightfur Fusion Monsters that can be summoned by Scythe (Sabre-Tooth & Kraken) are best used as offensive weapons on your turn, however, they still have their uses and you could bring them out at the end of Main Phase 2 when the coast is clear. Scythe already did enough enabling easy Fusion Summoning, but destruction protection via removal on top of that make it a three of in the deck. Of all the Frightfur that Scythe can summon, only Sabre-Tooth can protect itself (if summoned using three monsters), the protection effect is needed because Scythe can only be used on your opponents turn, I like that they added that ability, it ensures monsters that don’t have removal ability can be protected.

Scythe is balanced, you can’t use it as a Fusion enabler during your turn, if you could, Frightfur would swarm even more than they already do. They needed something protection/offensive ability during their opponents turn, and Scythe is that.

Now we start to get into the more scary cards with a sharp object you’d want to be wary of when playing against Fluffals: Edge Imp Scythe.

Scythe is a Level 3 DARK Fiend with 1000 ATK and 0 DEF. Not the greatest stats, but not the worst and being a Level 3 Fiend makes this a Tour Guide target if you really wanted (though there are still better targets for Tour Guide) and being DARK is a pretty good trait. The first effect works during the opponent’s Main Phase where you can reveal this card from the hand to Fusion Summon any Frightfur Fusion by using this and other monsters in your hand or on the field as materials. You can’t really summon Frightfur Tiger with this sadly for pops since that specifically needs Edge Imp Sabres and Fluffals and you have to use this, but there’s a Frightfur that makes up for that at the end of the week we’ll look at. This is a great piece of support that was missing in Fluffals that helps them play on the opponent’s turn from Turn 1 to help set up your later plays for combos or going for game or you can disrupt the opponent’s plays. The second effect lets you banish this card from the graveyard to protect a Frightfur Fusion from destruction, which helps Friday’s card well if you were going to pop it with its own effect. Edge Imp Scythe’s effects are each a hard once per turn, which prevents you from doing too much on the opponent’s turn and doesn’t let you protect your Frightfurs too much, but it still helps fill a void that Fluffals have had since their release and does a good job at it. It’s another good Edge Imp to add to the arsenal at the worst.

Here’s a spooky enough looking card as we’re one day closer to Halloween in Edge Imp Scythe.  Dark/Fiend, LEvel 3, 1000 attack and 0 defense.  A Quick Effect lets you reveal this card from the Hand during your opponent’s Main Phase to Fusion Summon a Frightfur Monster from your Extra Deck (using Monsters from your Hand or Field as Material) though you must use this card.  It’s not a terrible thing you have to use this card, in fact, I see that as appropriate given you have to reveal this card.  Dropping an Extra Deck Monster on the opponent’s turn is a beautiful thing, and this card does it with ease.  Also included is some protection where if a Frightfur Fusion you control (one or multiple) would be destroyed by Battle or Card Effect, removing this card from play negates said destruction.  Which is awesome for a couple reasons.  The Effect part I love even more, because you could use a destruction effect of your own that might Target the whole Field and your Monster(s) would still come out unharmed.  Things are nice when they’re open ended sometimes.

Art:  4.5/5  So this seems to be two scythes and while the lack of a handle irritates me, the scythe(s) is(are) actually just the blade, so the art is still appropriate.  Nice color usage too.
