Meklord Astro Dragon Triskelion
– #LED7-EN016
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 3 “Meklord” monsters with different names from your GY. Once per turn, when this card declares an attack: You can look at your opponent’s Extra Deck and equip 1 monster from it to this card. This card gains ATK equal to the combined ATK of those equipped monsters. While equipped with a Synchro Monster, this card can make up to 3 attacks on monsters during each Battle Phase.

King of Lullaby Hello Pojo Fans, Meklord Astro Dragon Triskelion finishes out the week. 3000ATK beatstick that can be easily summoning through banishing of Meklords, now we’re talking. A different approach for Meklord, usually needing destruction of Meklord monsters to summon the bigger monsters in the archetype. This card directly can disrupt most strategies by taking that one Extra Deck target when attacking. Triskelion only has to declare the attack for its effect to activate, that’s huge. While battle traps aren’t played as much anymore there are still ways your opponent can disrupt you and stop Triskelion. Each turn it can declare an attack and steal an Extra Deck monster and gain its ATK. Even using one Extra Deck monster is enough to push Triskelion into OTK potential. If you can get to Triskelion quick enough you can take away the copy of Dragoon your opponent may be running. Virtual World players run True King of All Calamities, which would make Triskelion officially an OTK monster. Attaching a Synchro does give you up to three attacks on monsters during each Battle Phase, which would end the game if attached with a high enough attack Extra Deck monster, which Triskelion would likely have. I would have liked to see a detach to protect it from destruction at the very least, but Triskelion seems to be a finishing card and not something that will stay on the field for long. If you can summon it and attack directly, you’ll get the attach and at the very least get 2000 more ATK. One of the easiest Meklord big monsters to summon, highly offensive in terms of summoning and power, and can cause disruption to your opponents Extra Deck through attacking. Crunch$G The week ends with the newest Meklord Astro monster and the only real good one, Meklord Astro Dragon Triskelion. Triskelion is a Level 10 DARK Machine with 3000 ATK and 0 DEF, so this probably shouldn’t be in DEF Position. It cannot be Normal Summoned or Set and must be Special Summoned first via its own effect, and in this case the Core can’t cheat it out since it’s a Meklord Astro and not a Meklord Emperor. You Special Summon it by banishing 3 Meklord monsters with different names from the graveyard. It can be harder to make the 3 Meklords have different names, but overall it isn’t really difficult to pull off. Once per turn, when this monster declares an attack, you can look at the opponent’s Extra Deck and equip any monster from there to this card to have it gain ATK equal to the ATK of the equipped monster. Great to equip the monster before it’s summoned and you get to choose from the Extra Deck, plus it doesn’t have to be a Synchro, so another positive. If it is equipped with a Synchro, then it can make 3 attacks on monsters during the Battle Phase, likely allowing for an easy OTK and respects the original gimmick of Meklords while also modernizing it. It is a fairly strong boss monster for Meklords and while they might need more to be a strong archetype, they are at least somewhat modernized now with this support. Advanced Rating: 3.75/5 Art: 4.5/5 Really has an intimidating presence about itself, you can just feel these were created to destroy. |
Alex Searcy Meklord Astro Dragon Triskelion closes the week. Dark/Machine still, but a beefy Level 10, with 3000 attack but 0 defense. Still can only be brought out via Special Summon of its own effect. This time, by removing three Meklord Monsters from your Graveyard from play, with different names. Easy enough way to drop a 3000 attack body to the Field, no? So, a fun effect lets you look at your opponent’s Extra Deck during the Battle Phase, (only once per turn, of course, and appropriately) and Equip any Monster from it to itself, gaining attack of any and all ED Monsters attached. If Equipped with a Synchro, this beast can attack up to 3 times per turn. Note the attacks HAVE to be on Monsters, so no direct attacks, but this card could be a finisher. The lack of protection, of any kind, is also troubling. But with how easily this thing can hit the Field, and the potential to wreck things, and even win a game, that’s certainly worth something. Rating: 3.5/5 Art: 4/5 Definitely the best art of the week. Great background, I actually like this design of the Monster, and the contrast between the armor and the skin of the Dragon. |
