Possessed Partnerships – #SDCH-EN028

Special Summon 1 Spellcaster monster with 1500 DEF from your hand or GY in Attack Position or face-down Defense Position, then, if you control monsters with 2 or more different Attributes, you can destroy 1 face-up card on the field. You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 “Possessed” Continuous Spell/Trap in your GY; place it face-up on your field. You can only use 1 “Possessed Partnerships” effect per turn, and only once that turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Possessed Partnerships is another card for the Possessed/Spiritual Arts archetype that does several things for the archetype.

Hand or grave Special Summon ability for your 1500DEF monsters gets another monster on the field. Having the ability to summon in face-down position expands your reach of 1500DEF to those with flip effects, or allows you to play on the defensive. The more Attributes on the field the better with Possessed Partnership, allowing you to pop a card on the field. With the Familiar deck you’ll easily have two or more Attributes on the field. Card removal that doesn’t need a particular “Familiar” monster or Attribute helps a lot with consistency. Banish to get back a Possessed Continuous Spell/Trap addresses the problem with using Continuous Spell/Trap cards while being balanced. Currently it can only be used with Awakening of The Possessed, but that card is another card that does multiple things to get your Spiritual Arts advantage.

With multiple Attributes within the archetype, it’s fitting that support cards would do multiple things.

The next card is a Trap to help revive your Charmers or your Familiar-Possessed Monsters, Possessed Partnerships.

Possessed Partnerships is a Normal Trap that lets you Special Summon a Spellcaster with 1500 DEF from your hand or graveyard in Attack Position or face-down Defense Position and then you can destroy a face-up card on the field if you control 2 Monsters with different Attributes after this resolves. Nice to either revive your Familiar-Possessed for a 1850 beater that can get boosted by some of the archetype’s new cards or to set a Charmer to the field to hopefully try to resolve the FLIP Effect it has, though the Charmers in 2020 are sadly too unreliable for my taste. Either way, a free revival is good and you can get a pop off it as well. You could do the hand as well, but that doesn’t generate as much advantage, but at least the option is there. Considering it revives any Spellcaster with 1500 DEF, I get why it only targets face-up cards. I mean, you can revive Ecclesia with this. You can also banish this card from the graveyard to target a Possessed Continuous Spell/Trap in your graveyard and set it to your field. Cool way to get back your Possessed cards. The only ones I can think of right now are Awakening of the Possessed and Unpossessed, which are both solid cards for this Deck. You only get one effect a turn and only once that turn, which does seem harsh for this archetype, but I guess they know you could be trying to mix Charmers and Familiar-Possessed with other archetypes that synergize well with this support as well, so I guess they want to limit those variants from taking off. It’s a good card for the Familiar-Possessed to get them back while also recovering your backrow.

Art: 5/5 I personally like the Charmer and Familiar-Possessed aesthetic, and this works well using the original 4.

While not quite as good as yesterday’s card, Possessed Partnership is a nice little Trap too.  A Normal Trap, whose first effect grants you a Special Summon (still working in the 1500 defense theme and a Spellcaster) from your Hand or Graveyard (open options including more than one place are always great) in face-up attack or face-down defense position, making this even better.  So you can use said effect however you choose or need in the situation, offensively or defensively.  Then, if you control Monsters with two or more Attributes, you can destroy a face-up card on the Field.  I like everything about this.  Your card, if necessary, AND the option here, meaning if all you have on the Field is a couple Monsters (or whatever else) and your opponent has nothing, or say something immune to destruction effect, you don’t have to destroy anything.  You can remove this card from your Graveyard from play to Target and add a Possessed Magic/Trap (as long as it’s Continuous) face-up to your Field.  This card does a lot.  Nets you a Special Summon, can help you destroy a card via said Special Summon, and replaces itself when removed from play (and can even replace with itself.
