This card was #4 on my Top Ten list.
Opposition Agent is perhaps most obviously targeted at constructed play in Legacy, Vintage, and similar formats. She’s going to be a card that people have to keep in mind there forever. That effect is at least one step beyond most of the existing anti-tutor cards, and it can be absolutely brutal if you pull off the obvious tricks; the only wrinkle is that some of the combo decks might have pieces that don’t work as well in general use. But anything else is going to have a very bad time when she hits the table: for example, an equipment card your opponent wanted to use to tip the game state in their favor will do so just as well for you.
Plus, she’s not just in Commander Legends to add scarcity – there are people who feel their casual or Commander table has too much land-searching, too many multi-part combo decks, or the like. If that’s you, I’d say your time to make a point has come.
Constructed: 4/5
Casual: 4/5
Limited: 3/5
Multiplayer: 4/5
Commander: 4/5
This card did not make my top 10 list, but it was on my shortlist for inclusion.
Opposition Agent is one of the two Commander Legends constructed plants, or so it seems; while it’s the “weaker” of the two, it’s definitely more crippling if it gets the chance to fire even once. Decks rely on a deceptive number of tutoring effects at times, like fetchlands, and this gives you a way to say “no” to the people that like to enter their library like it’s going out of style. Flash makes this a spell your opponents need to play around, and it’s just as good even when there are lots of players. She’ll make a substantial splash in Eternal play for years to come, as well as terrorizing Commander games wherever they pop up.
Constructed: 4.5 (it is more a sideboard card, but it’s a brutal one)
Casual: 4 (casual tables rely less on tutoring, I’ve found)
Limited: 3 (you’re more playing it for the body)
Multiplayer: 4.25
Commander: 4.75
