Hello Pojo Fans,

Heavymetalfoes Amalgam is the newest Link Monster for the archetype, but falls far away from replacing Electrumite.

Horizontal arrows for this Link 2, it is generic for the Metalfoes archetype. Two effects accompany it, and they only get triggered by it being destroyed by a card effect, rolling itself into the archetype strategy. Target a Metalfoes monster to give it a 1000ATK boost by equipping Amalgam is an okay effect to add some more power to a Metalfoes, but it isn’t ideal. Metalfoes pop their own cards so much you are likely making this off a Pendulum Summon of a few Metalfoes. Popping another Metalfoes card to Special Summon this back works more with the whole pop-to-search/retrieve strategy. Pop this and another Metalfoes for Vanisher, get a search off the other Metalfoes and another pop from Amalgam to Special Summon Amalgam back. Because it only gets one of these two effects while sent from the Monster Zone you would lose out on Amalgam if it were attached to give the boost, and it can do more as an attacker rather than an Equip Spell.

Falls far short of the original Link Monster for the archetype, but it was going to. It can do a little something for the archetype, but there’s likely better Link Monsters outside the archetype that they’d run.

Now we get to a new Link Monster for the Metalfoes archetype, the one that isn’t banned in the TCG to be more specific, Heavymetalfoes Amalgam.

Amalgam is a Link-2 FIRE Psychic Link with 2000 ATK and arrows pointing Left and Right. Good ATK on Link-2, that fun combo of FIRE and Psychic, but those arrows are kind of off considering summoning this in the EMZ doesn’t open up zones for a Pendulum Summon. It seemed made with the fact that Electrumite is still legal, which it is in the OCG. The materials for this are any 2 Metalfoes monsters, so easy to do in Metalfoes. If this card is sent to the graveyard from the monster zone via a card effect, you can either equip this card from the graveyard to a Metalfoes monster and have it gain 1000 ATK or pop a Metalfoes card you control to Special Summon this card. The second effect is better after you pop this with a Metalfoes effect to get this instantly to the Main Monster Zone so you can do a bigger Pendulum Summon. The first effect seems designed to work well with Alkahest and that’s it really. It certainly doesn’t compare to Electrumite, especially since this is locked specifically to Metalfoes while Electrumite is for anything Pendulum related. It’s a Link you’re still fine using in Metalfoes, but it doesn’t replace the one we’re still missing in the format.

From Pendulum to Link, a Link 2 on day 2 of the week, here’s Heavymetalfoes Almalgam.  A Link 2 with 2000 attack is excellent.  This is a Fire/Psychic again, with arrows to the immediate left and right, who requires to Metalfoes Monsters for a Link Summon.  This card has a couple of neat tricks for you to choose from upon destruction.  Note like yesterday this must be destroyed by Card Effect, but just the same, it doesn’t have to be by your opponent.  You likely will be the one to destroy this card for the effect of your choice anyway.  Either you attach this to a Theme Monster for a 1000 attack bonus or you Target a Theme card you control and destroy it to revive this card.  Both are good with the latter being better.  1000 attack is a great increase without question.  But destroying a card to bring this back to keep it all going, and likely whatever you’ve destroyed is going to keep your chain of events going getting you more advantage.  It’s not big or flashy, but it does well enough.

Rating:  3.5/5

Art:  4.5/5  I still really like this but it’s just short of the art from yesterday
