Hello Pojo Fans,
We wrap up Ogdoadic week with a big one, the Level 10 Ogdoabyss, the Ogdoadic Overlord.
Like all of the higher Level monsters in the archetype, Ogdoabyss can Special Summon itself from the graveyard by tributing monsters, he needs three. High price to pay to summon him over and over, but with a token-producing trap in Calling, you will have at least two of your three needed. A non-destruction board wipe for monsters is good, unless your opponent has monsters summoned from the grave, then they will live. The goal would be to get at least one other Ogdoadic high level out with Ogdoabyss, use his effect and hit for massive damage, something over 5000LP of damage. It does clear all monsters, even if face-down, which is good. Water Lily is an easy way to get around that three-tribute cost for an easy board wipe, even if it were only a monster or two, the more you have to invest in the cost of Ogdoabyss, the more you want out of his effect. Worth noting if you summon Ogdoabyss in traditional fashion his effect will send him to the grave as well…something you’d rather not want after investing in him. 3100ATK is acceptable and there’s plenty of support behind it, you would’ve liked to seen a negation of some sort tacked on as well though.
Ogdoabyss used correctly can deal a decisive blow to your opponent, but you are more likely to use him in conjunction with Snake Rain and Water Lilly respectively rather than his own effect.

The week ends off with probably the most repetitive name we’ve seen in a while, but the boss of the Ogdoadic archetype with Ogdoabyss, the Ogdoadic Overlord.
Ogdoabyss is a Level 10 LIGHT Reptile with 3100 ATK and 2200 DEF. Powerful enough stats to be a force, and the other good qualities we’ve seen. More HOPTs here. First off you can revive this by tributing 3 monsters. Now, that’s pretty costly when the archetype already has other ways to get this back on board without giving up 3 monsters. It might come up, but you’d rather find alternate routes to get this on field. The other effect is a Quick Effect, but once while face-up on the field, but that’s fine since you can tribute this to revive other Ogdoadic monsters and bring this back later. The effect sends all monsters on the field to the grave, unless they were summoned from the graveyard. Non-targeting and non-destruction removal is nice, even if it affects you. It’ll sting if you got Extra Deck monsters on board, which is something you might be doing with Ogdoadic, but at the very least it helps out difficult monsters like Dragoon. Of course your Ogdoadics are likely staying as they’re mostly revived from the grave, but idk how often you want to leave Ogdoadics on your end board besides maybe Queen and King. Ogdoabyss has a use for Ogdoadic and is a worthy tech, but it won’t be the end of the world most of the time if you go without it. Though with how easily you can get this in grave, might as well throw a copy in with the other big snakes.

This guy didn’t have to have such a…name…Ogdoabyss, the Ogdoadic Overlord closes the week. Level 10, Light/Reptile, 3100/2200 (odd stats on both sides for a Level 10 I feel) but nothing here is bad. 3100 attack is formidable. Three Tributes here bring this card from your Grave to your Field…even in the Theme and how that helps, a Normal Summon for 2 Tributes (or a Special Summon much easier for free via effect or Magic/Trap) seems a much more logical way to go. It’s still a Special Summon, but so much to invest here. A Quick Effect, that can be activated once while this card is face-up on the Field, lets you send all Monsters on the Field to the Grave, unless they were Special Summoned face-up from the Graveyard. So it can protect itself from its own effect, which is nice, and staring down a potentially empty Field with 3100 attack isn’t fun. You’ll need a backrow wipe, or something to protect/negate/destroy when you attack, but this guy could end a game, certainly. It’s unfortunate and weird his effect doesn’t Target Graveyard Special Summons, so you might not get a full Monster clear as often as you like, but you should still nuke some stuff.
