Hello Pojo Fans,
This week on Pojo feels like a nod to archetypes that have needed a fresh boost to help bring them back from Tier 2 and below status, and we’re starting with Bujins with Bujin Torifune
Double Special Summon off a tribute is a fantastic effect for an archetype no matter which one you choose. Different Types won’t be hard for Bujins and while they’ll be in defense, with the Extra Deck existing you shouldn’t have any trouble getting something from the two. Torifune can equip itself to a Bujin Xyz, which might be your next move after tributing Torifune. The Bujin equipped with Torifune gains a DMoC banish ability, eliminating grave resources for your opponent. Protection or a draw ability I think would have served the archetype better, especially the draw. All Bujin are Level 4 so you’ll be going for a Rank 4, and while there isn’t a Tuner in the archetype you can still play a few to Synchro. This is meant to get you to your Bujin that function in the grave, go into a Bujin Xyz and then equip itself…and now Link Summon Bujin Ahashima and get to both. Link Summon off of Torifune, activate Ahashima’s effect to Special Summon from the grave and hand and go immediately into an Xyz Bujin, and then Torifune will attach to it. This way you’ve gotten two monsters off of two card (Torifune and the Bujin in hand) and thinned the deck by two off of Torifune.
The addition of a Link Monster into the archetype helps, but Torifune helps get to your Xyz Bujin monsters easier, speeds up your deck a little, and reattaches itself for more help for your Bujin Xyz.

A week of random support cards here on the site as we start the week off with the newest Bujin monster: Bujin Torifune.
Torifune is a Level 4 LIGHT Beast-Warrior with 1500 ATK and 500 DEF. Fine Level 4 stats, LIGHT is great, and being Beast-Warrior is pretty good, especially nowadays with Tri-Brigade around and Tenki still at 3. Anyways, tributing this card lets you summon 2 Bujin monsters with different Types from the Deck in Defense Position, besides another Torifune. Pretty good instant access to a Rank 4 in Bujins. Should be an easy Susanowo or Tsukuyomi since Kagutsuchi needs Beast-Warriors and Amaterasu needs 3 monsters. Or you can summon a generic Rank 4 considering this doesn’t restrict you in any way, or even go for the Bujin Link-2 if you wish. The second effect helps your Bujin Xyzs as when you Xyz Summon them, you can equip this card from the graveyard to that monster and whenever that monster destroys an opponent’s monster in battle, said destroyed monster is banished. Good card to combo with Susanowo’s ability to attack all the opponent’s monsters so you can banish their entire board potentially. Each effect of Torifune is a hard once per turn, the summon from Deck and equip that is. Overall, it’s a nice piece to help boost Bujins considering Yamato protect the castle is not as good as it once was, so now we got a consistent way to get to Susanowo instead.

Sometimes I’m not entirely sure what we’re doing for the week, and if I read my cards right, this seems to be a week of randoms-fun! Bujin (a name I’ve not heard in a LONG time) Torifune is a Level 4 Light/Beast-Warrior, which is a fine Typing together. 1500 attack is low as is that 500 defense. But he’s a pretty good. Tributing this card lets you Special Summon 2 differently Typed Bujin Monsters in Defense position from your Deck, excluding Tokens. So this guy is obviously trying to set up your Extra Deck plays, which is always a great help to the player. If this card is in your Graveyard, and you control an XYZ Bujin Monster, you can Equip this to that Monster. Likewise, extra XYZ Material is always a good thing, and that’s incredibly simple to do with this card. A Monster Equipped with this that is destroyed is removed from play. A bit of a downside, but that’s ONLY if the Montser is destroyed in Battle. That kinda balances out. Each Effect here is once per Turn. Really nice card to open the week here.

Torifune was a Japanese Kami of the Heavenly order in mythology (so this seems aptly named)
Art: 4.5/5 (We have the German card, COOL!) That picture def borders on the spooky, Halloween side though, awesome as it is.
