Hello Pojo Fans,

Screams of the Branded is the second trap we’re reviewing.

Like all spell/trap “Branded” cards, it can reset itself if sent to the grave for “Fallen of Albaz”, negating the discard cost. Screams of the Branded is a Call of The Haunted for your Fusion Monsters when they are sent to the grave or banished that turn, so you need to use this in conjunction with them meeting their end via your opponent, or if you use them for something like yesterdays card. Most of the time you’ll be using Screams to revive the fusion you lost, but if you banished something in the grave that applies to Scream of the Branded then you may choose to reborn it instead. Normally this card would be held back by depending on your opponent, but cards like Jubilation of the Branded make it easier to get a Fusion monster into your grave to facilitate this card. When you do have to depend on your opponent though this card slows down and really feels like a trap card.

Screams of the Branded has the benefits of being searchable for the archetype and working within a strategy for the archetype, but there are easier alternatives to run in place of it, even if they are a one-time use.

From one Trap to another we now look at Screams of the Branded.

Screams is a Normal Trap that lets you Special Summon any Fusion that’s banished or in your graveyard if a Fusion was sent to your graveyard this turn. In theory, this should work with Dogmatika, but those typically lock you from the Extra Deck after dumping a monster from there. That and you can’t revive anything you dump since it wasn’t properly summoned. You mainly got to rely on using your Fusions for another Fusion Summon or your Fusion being destroyed. It’s nice to recover your banished Fusions at least. Same recovery effect for being pitched off Albaz as we’ve seen this week, and another hard once per turn. It’s fine for recovery overall. Being a free revival for a Fusion might of been too good, so there had to be a catch. Still, it’s generic for anything Fusion related, but you’re likely using this in an Albaz Deck since it’s going to be searchable.

Art: 5/5 That’s a very upset dragon I see.

I was rather high on our card yesterday; today, I’m flying a little lower.  Screams of the Branded (actually very cool for a name) is also a Normal Trap.  If a Fusion is sent to your Grave this Turn, you can Special Summon a Fusion from your Grave.  Fun, the condition is easy enough, it doesn’t specify who had to send it, or that it has to come from the Field.  So it could just dump straight from your Extra Deck.  The openness of the card makes this a better one.

Oh, but you can also Special Summon one of your Fusions that’s been removed from play.  A nifty and more common mechanic, both in removing your Fusion, and being able to recover it after.  And that’s it.  The ‘if used for FoA, Set back to the Field’ clause is still here, which I’m honestly becoming less impressed with as I go this week.  But it’s something, and it helps.

Given how open it is, this does have potential and use to be found about anywhere Deck wise, which is good.  In terms of today (and ESPECIALLY yesterday) I don’t think the FoA clause is enough to limit it to use in just a Deck around there but maybe so.  This card, while no means bad, just isn’t particularly GOOD, either.

Art:  Okay, so, as I’ve said all week…no branding…this Dragon is clearing either trapped in an energy sphere (or something) there’s less than zero evidence of a brand or branding, and is that…whatever it is on the top left wing supposed to be the brand?  Too much mess, not enough explanation, and still the name and the picture don’t fit each other, or the card effect.  1/5
