That title makes me feel like this version of Teferi may be active in Australia in our summer months. At the summer solstice, Melbourne’s night (as per the astronomical definition) is less than five and a half hours long

Most planeswalkers tend to get much of their value from their “regular” (non-ultimate) abilities, and this one’s are pretty interesting. His +1 is versatile, being able to be used as either synergy with your own tap abilities or disruption to an opponent’s stuff (though it’ll be more like denying them colors or tapping blockers due to its short-term nature). His -2 is pretty appealing, as getting more cards is usually a good thing, even if it’s less purely powerful than the way some other planeswalkers do it. He also happens to have one of the more “I win” ultimates we’ve seen recently, though his other abilities don’t naturally increase his likelihood of surviving that long by very much. I suspect he’ll end up more in the middle of the planeswalker power range, though that’s probably still enough to get some tournament play.

The newest Teferi may not be the flashiest planeswalker on the block, but he’s a solid value engine. His +1 lets you eke out more value from your things (or tie down troublesome things), and his -2 helps you dig for answers if you don’t have answers already. His Seedborn Muse-like ultimate is brutal, but planeswalkers rarely are evaluated on ultimates.

All the same, he’s decent. A healthy starting loyalty means he won’t immediately evaporate on an opponent’s turn, and sometimes that little bit of extra pop can be the difference between going off and having to wait. He’s subtle, but subtle can do the job well enough.
