It’s interesting that in a block whose storyline involves the literal death of the sun, there’s a card about restoring what was once looted. But although it’s a conceptual mirror to Faithless Looting, its effect is curiously similar (and makes just as much sense in terms of the color pie). It’s equally effective at digging through your deck for answers and setting up your graveyard for something ridiculous to happen, making it effective in more than one type of deck; and flashback makes it so much more advantageous (as always).
And in an odd way, it actually does make sense in a block about Fimbulwinter hanging over Innistrad, if you think back to the fact (as we talked about in my gameplay-free review of Kaldheim) that many say time is a circle. Einar Selvik rephrased the old words more melodically than I ever could.

The obvious card Faithful Mending calls back to is the multi-format all-star Faithless Looting, quite possibly one of the most-played cards from the original Innistrad block. While this isn’t as overly powerful, it’s still strong; instant speed looting, with life gain tacked on, is subtly powerful in a lot of cases, and it even can come back for the same total mana cost as the original did. I think this is a workhorse card that, while not the set’s clear strongest card, is going to be one that sees a lot of play. It’s four more copies of the Faithless Looting effect with some interesting quirks of its own, and that should be enough to get it to see play.
