At the start of your Main Phase 1: Add 1 monster with 0 ATK from your Deck to your hand, but halve your LP. After adding it to your hand, until the end of the next turn after this card was activated, you cannot activate the added monster’s effects, or the effects of cards with its name, until you Normal Summon that monster or a card with its name.

Here’s an interesting card that can search a wide range of stuff, but the cards that are good being searched off it was limited. Here’s Piri Reis Map.
Piri Reis Map is a Normal Spell that must be activated at the start of the Main Phase 1, which never stopped us from playing Cold Wave or Pot of Extravagance. You get to add any monster with 0 ATK from your Deck to your hand, but after adding it to your hand, you cannot activate the effects of the added monster until the end of the next turn unless you Normal Summon it, also your LP are halved after searching. So basically, they shut you down from just searching hand traps and using them on the opponent’s turn, which is more than fair. Instead, you can use this to get your play enabler to your hand since several Decks I can think of have a nice starter with 0 ATK like Weather Painters, D/D/D, Fish Xyz, and many more. Being able to get to those starters more consistently is great, even if you have to do it at the start of the Main Phase 1, so it basically doesn’t let you search if you end up drawing this mid turn. Either way, it’s a nice way to get certain Decks going and eventually there’ll be a Tier 1 meta strategy that could use this and take full advantage of it. It’s a great card that gets better as we get more good monsters with 0 ATK that are useful to Normal Summon.

Piri Reis Map is a Normal Magic card, which seems costly, but can payoff. At the start of your Main Phase, you can add a 0 attack Monster to your Hand from your Deck, but at the cost of half your Lifepoints. That does seem costly, making this likely a better card the further you go into the game (assuming your Lifepoints are lower; but this game has taught us that half or more your Lifepoints for the right card at the right time can be worthwhile). Then, until the end of the next Turn after this is activated, you can’t use Effect(s) of the card or of cards with its name until you Normal Summon said card. So it’s really limiting you time wise and Effect wise, but the instant access is still something to be happy about. There are a plethora of Monsters that fit this bill, so if you need an extra searcher and are willing to abide by this, use it. It might honestly be a better Side-Deck card.

In contrast to yesterday’s crickets, today’s card generated quite some hype on reveal. First seen many years ago in the Yugioh 5Ds anime, Piri Reis Map is a normal spell that can only be activated at the start of your main phase 1, so it does clash with cards like Pot of Extravagance and its capacity as a combo extender is limited. You can search any monster with 0 attack at the cost of halving your LP, though you can’t activate that monster’s effects at all (even other copies) until the end of your opponent’s turn unless you normal summon it. Halving your LP stings a little bit, but if you’re using it, it’s probably worth the search in the first place. Tragically, the effect prevention makes searching hand traps (Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion are notable ones with 0 attack) a very poor idea, as it is otherwise too slow. Piri Reis Map truly shines in decks with playstarters that happen to have 0 attack that also want to be normal summoned; Zoodiac decks can search Zoodiac Ratpier (which, granted, isn’t too useful after recent hits), Shark decks can search Beautunaful Princess and get to Buzzsaw Shark, Malefic decks can search Malefic Paradox Gear and make synchro summoning easier, and The Weather decks can search The Weather Painter Snow to grab a spell or trap. While there aren’t that many 0 attack play starters that are currently in the meta, Piri Reis Map is a card to keep an eye on given its broad search range.

Art: 2.5/5 I get that the Piri Reis Map in real life is a big deal, but to be blunt this art is pretty drab.

Piri Reis Map was very close to “Hand Trap Map”.
A Normal Spell only for Main Phase 1…memories of Cold Wave. Searching a 0ATK monster makes it a 1-for-1, and having to give up half your LP is something many of us still would do if we can get to something we need. The check on this card: “end of the next turn” was a good way to prevent merely seraching a hand trap and taunting your opponent to make you use it. Not saying you can’t do that, you just won’t be playing it until a turn later than you’d like. If you Normal Summon the monster through you can activate their effect(s) and if you were to have another copy in your hand then you could do the same with stuff activating from the hand. There are over 400 effect monsters that can be targeted with Piri Reis Map. Of those, Adamancipator, Altergeist, F.A., Incantations and the “Ghost Girl” choices benefit from this card the most.
Lets be real: People will play this to search a hand trap and give up half their LP. Archetypes previously mentioned could play this, but they typically have better, less costly ways of getting to the monster you’d search with this.
