Hello Pojo Fans,
Branded in Red is a more direct card than Branded in High Spirits, though the latter sets up this one.
Despia or Fallen of Albaz strategies only, needing one of those in the grave. 1-for-1 Quick-Play at the least with a high upside if you have the materials. Fusion Summon a Level 8 or higher by banishing the materials from the hand or field gives you choices, though you may have just added back one of them, making Branded in Red a kind of Fusion Recovery. If you do Fusion Summon with Branded in Red, you won’t be able to attack directly, so that Fusion Monster will be used for its effect(s) or to clear the way for more of your other monsters to deal damage.
Use this on your opponents turn to save monsters on the field and get yourself a big Fusion without having to wait next turn to attack directly. Seven potential monsters involving Despia and Fallen of Albaz in total with all of them pretty easy to summon on either players turn with the exclusion of Sprind the Irondash Dragon (because the other material needed to be Special Summoned that turn).
Branded in High Spirits sets up the grave for Fusion Summons, but Branded in Red is more for making moves and getting advantage.

Now we get to another Quick-Play Spell for Branded, only one you’ll more likely see in the Deck in Branded in Red.
Branded in Red is a Quick-Play Spell that targets a Despia monster or Fallen of Albaz in grave and adds it to your hand, then you get to apply the following effect to Fusion Summon a Level 8 or higher Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck by banishing Fusion Materials from your hand or field, just the summoned monster cannot attack directly that turn. So the recovery alone is pretty nice to get back some of your better Despia cards or a Fallen of Albaz if you want to Normal Summon it, but you’re likely using this to try and get that Fusion Summon on the opponent’s turn for something like Guardian Chimera to disrupt the opponent by popping their cards while you get to draw, which in that case you can add back Despian Tragedy to get a search once you banish it off of this. Not being able to attack directly that turn is likely to prevent easy OTKs, but that’s not the end of the world if you can keep control of the gamestate. Hard once per turn on this, which is fine. It’s honestly a really good card for Branded, mainly due to the existence of Guardian Chimera, but summoning other Fusions with this isn’t the worst either. It’s a good 2-3 of in Despia Branded due to its recovery and power to summon a big Fusion on either turn.

Midweek brings us another Magic card, a Normal today, in Branded in Red. You get to Target and add a Fallen of Albaz or Despia Monster from your Grave to your Hand. Nothing not to like about that, and that all ready breaks you even on a nice 1-for-1 advantage wise. Then you can Fusion Summon a Level 8 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck using Monsters from your Hand OR Field as Material. Said Material are removed from play, which deliciously continues to fit this Theme. The Monster can’t attack directly, and you can only activate one of these a Turn. It’s nice the Monster CAN still attack though, and I’m a bit torn, I feel without the direct attacking, maybe you could’ve used more than one a Turn. This card is simple, but it adds speed, dumps to the Grave, and gets the Fusions out. Not much to complain about there.

Art: 3.5/5 Nothing stands out about this as much as the prior two days, and it feels kinda generic to me. But there is still a faint beauty here.

Because Branded in White clearly wasn’t enough, Branded in Red is another fusion spell for Fallen of Albaz’s repertoire, being a quick-play spell to boot. You can only activate one per turn, but with the many ways Albaz and Despia cards can fuse, it shouldn’t be too big an issue to keep fusing; plus, like all Branded Cards, it can be searched by Aluber the Jester or Despia or Albion the Stigmata Dragon. Upon activation, you can add a Despia monster or Fallen of Albaz back to your hand from the grave. Recycling is always good, especially when a fusion archetype should be dumping monsters to the graveyard very often. Afterwards, if applicable, you can fusion summon any level 8 or higher fusion monster by banishing monsters from your hand or field, though it can’t attack directly that turn (which is mostly irrelevant on turn 1 or if you activate it on your opponent’s turn). While you can technically summon any level 8 or higher fusion monster, you’ll almost always be summoning a Despia fusion or an Albaz fusion, namely because you’ll be getting a material for free. We don’t have the most impactful Albaz fusion in TCG yet, but there’s always the three Despia fusions (the third of which we’ll cover on Friday) which are all good to summon on your opponent’s turn. Overall a good fusion card for Despia and Albaz decks, and it’ll only get better when their future cards start trickling in.
