Got some more anime-inspired cards this weekend starting with a classic throwback to the original anime: Duel Tower.

Duel Tower is a Field Spell where at the start of each Battle Phase, each player can reveal 1 monster from their Deck that doesn’t have ? ATK and then banish them face-down, then the player who revealed the monster with the highest ATK, both players if tied, can summon a monster from the hand that can attack directly while it’s on the field. It sounds nice to get a big monster from hand onto the field that can go for direct damage and bypass all the monsters, you just got to hope there is a big monster remaining for you to banish, otherwise your opponent gets this effect to get direct damage onto you. Its a risk vs reward situation. Second effect is a soft once per turn during the End Phase, where you can activate this effect and if you control this card during the End Phase of the next turn, you can destroy all cards on the field. This feels like an effect that’s just based on the anime and not meant to be good, cause the game might either be over before you can nuke the board or this is removed from the field before it resolves. It’s not really a great card, just a homage to the anime. I love the idea of doing this, but as we can see, it doesn’t always make for great cards.

Art: 5/5 So yeah, this is the tower where the Battle City finals were held. The first effect is in respect to how they determined who would go first in the Battle Royal mode with of course the highest ATK let that player go first and it goes in descending order where the weakest monster goes last. The second effect is a throwback to at the end of the tournament, where Kaiba was going to nuke the tower
