Hello Pojo Fans,
Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir is our Throwback Thursday choice and is a worthy choice for the Generaider archetype.
Generic Rank 9 with generic materials required, Enterblathnir is all about banishing. A great 1-for-1, giving up a material for a banish from hand, field, grave or top of the Deck of your opponent. I love when monster effects are great and easy to use. It would be great to have multiple materials attached to Enterblathnir, however that would require other cards to perform, and you don’t want that. Banishing is an almost certain elimination for a card, avoids setting off most counter effects monsters have, and the wide reach of this simple effect ensures you are going to get your monies worth. As a monster, Enterblathnir boasts pretty good ATK/DEF for you to deal with opponent’s monsters. With the best Rank 9’s banned currently, Generaider have to depend on this and a few others for outside options to go into. Earth Slicer would be a choice for more offensive options, but Enterblathnir you would end up getting rid of the same number of cards, banish versus destroying, just slower.
Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir would be incredible if its effect was a Quick Effect, but that would require likely lower ATK. It is a balanced Rank 9 as is and a suitable option with True King and Dark Matter banned.

Throwback Thursday this week brings us to another one of the better genenric Rank 9s in the game since we don’t have True King of All Calamities, and I guess an honorary Mecha Phantom Beast: Phantom Fortress Enterblathtnir.
Enterblathnir is a Rank 9 WIND Machine with 2900 ATK and 2500 DEF. Good stats on a Rank 9, Machine is always great, but WIND still remains the worst Attribute probably. It only needs 2 Level 9 monsters to summon, so generic. The only effect is a once per turn, where you detach a material to choose from four options. Those options are to banish a card the opponent controls, banish a random card from the opponent’s hand, banish a card from the opponent’s graveyard, or banish the top card of the opponent’s Deck face-up. It’s basically Rank 9 Trishula, though you only get to banish 1 card at a time instead of up to 3 at once. You do get to use the effect twice if it stays on the field another turn, and the ability to go for the top of the opponent’s Deck is fine. The hand-rip option has brought up some hand looping alongside Trishula sometimes, since she is a Level 9 Synchro. There’s even the hard to pull off combos where you can use this to Deck the opponent out, which is a ton of looping. Even without the loops, it’s still a decent Rank 9 to remove a card you might need gone from the opponent’s field or grave, take a random threat from the opponent’s hand, or potentialy take the top card of their Deck if you know what they’ll draw next. A very solid Rank 9 monster for Level 9 Decks.

This week doesn’t really have a particular theme, so I guess today’s card piggybacks off of Generaiders being a Rank 9 deck? Throwback Thursday brings us Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir, which looks like a Mecha Phantom Beast monster, but isn’t. It’s a Rank 9 WIND Machine Xyz monster, a combination that’s only really found in Mecha Phantom Beast, though its generic materials of any two level 9 monsters means any Rank 9 deck can use it. Its stats are pretty decent as well, with 2900 attack and 2500 defense, though they’re not particularly great either.
Enterblathnir has a single soft once per turn effect, letting you detach an Xyz material to choose one of four effects:
- Banishing a card your opponent controls
- Banishing a random card from your opponent’s hand
- Banishing a card in your opponent’s Graveyard
- Banishing the top card of your opponent’s deck face-up
The fourth effect is probably the least useful outside of meme loop decks (foreshadowing!), I’d only use it if my opponent has literally one card left in their deck so they’d lose by deck out next turn, but this will almost never happen. The first and third options aren’t bad; they’ll mostly be reserved for turn two onwards to get rid of troublesome monsters like Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax or Destiny HERO Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer, if they let you summon Enterblathnir in the first place, anyway. Enterblathnir’s most interesting and potentially strongest effect, however, is its third effect. Coincidentally, Enterblathnir is Rank 9, so you could make it using Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, which also has an effect to rip a card from your opponent’s hand. That’s right, Enterblathnir has seen fringe play in hand rip decks; by looping the effect of Trishula 3 times, then using Trishula to make Enterblathnir, you can delete almost all of your opponent’s hand (or all of it by pushing a little more), leaving them with only one card going second. Thankfully, even with Trishula now unlimited, such combos are extremely frail and impractical; more often than not it’ll just give you a Nibiru token. Outside of meme decks, Enterblathnir has mostly been relegated to a “just in case” Rank 9 in decks that can make it, though yesterday’s Laevatein, Generaider Boss of Shadows is arguably a better option in most scenarios. Overall, while hand ripping is out of fashion, Enterblathnir will be waiting! For how long? Probably a long time.
