Rock Chestplate (Scarlet & Violet 192/198) is a Pokemon Tool card that states that Fighting-type Pokemon this card is attached to takes 30 less damage from attacks from your opponent’s Pokemon after applying Weakness and Resistance. However, it doesn’t protect damage from your own attacks.

Electric Generator is to Miraidon while Rock Chestplate is to Koraidon, at least when types are concerned. This is a useful piece of support for Fighting-based decks as it can help soak up certain attacks. Ultimately, though, it can only be useful if it helps you avoid the OHKO or 2HKO, because if it doesn’t, then you’re wasting resources trying to do something that won’t matter. There’s also other Pokemon tools that could be just as useful in other situations. Tool Scrapper might have left the format (and so is Stone F Energy, which Fighting types would’ve like to keep having), but sometimes players might put in Defiance/Vitality Band for a bit of extra power to get past certain thresholds for the OHKO/2HKO. As such, those cards may have a higher priority than defensive-based cards.

This card doesn’t appear in any decklists at Limitless, but that’s not to say that Rock Chestplate is useless anywhere; it’s just that this card is not at the right place yet. If there’s any Fighting-type Pokemon that enjoys soaking damage, Ursaluna (SWSH Silver Tempest 102/195) would be it. It’s Hard Coat ability lets it take 30 less damage from attacks. Adding Rock Chestplate and a minimum of three Stone F Energies (in Expanded) would make it soak up to 120 damage, making Ursaluna even more tankier. But that’s just to try and maintain the damage output of Peat Shoulder because it will do less than 220 damage otherwise. Stonjourner (Scarlet & Violet 121/198) is the latest Pokemon that soaks up damage, albeit soaking up to 20 damage via Exoskeleton. Adding Rock Chestplate to it means Stonjourner soaks up to 50 damage, but it has a vanilla attack.
