Revolution Synchron – #DUNE-EN002

If you Synchro Summon a “Power Tool” monster or a Level 7 or 8 Dragon monster, this card in your hand can also be used as material. You can only use this effect of “Revolution Synchron” once per turn. If you control a Level 7 or higher Synchro Monster while this card is in your GY: You can send the top card of your Deck to the GY, and if you do, Special Summon this card, also its Level becomes 1. You can only use this effect of “Revolution Synchron” once per Duel.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Synchro Week through the Duelist Nexus set, starting with new Synchron support: Revolution Synchron.

Machine, Tuner, Level 3 are all good things when it comes to Synchro Summoning. Plenty of resources available for Renovation Synchron to get power from. While Power Tool Dragon isn’t the greatest Level 7 Synchro to have in your Extra Deck, there are a good amount of Level 7 or 8 Dragon monsters, and being able to Synchro Summon any of them using Revolution Synchron in your hand makes it so you have one less monster to summon to get to your Extra Deck monster. This effect isn’t seen very much, and without the inclusion of Level 7 or 8 Dragon-Type monsters would make this effect unique, but not as playable.

Glow-Up Bulb effect for Revolution Synchro while in the grave may be as close to Glow-Up that we get at least for a while. Revolution Synchro also becoming Level 1 helps if you have the Level 7 or higher Synchro Monster you are required to have to activate this effect. Level 7 and the newly revived Synchron will get you a Level 8 Synchro. Anything higher will require specifics depending on what monsters you’ve got in your Extra Deck. Like Glow-Up Bulb, this effect is rightfully restricted to once per Duel, but you can use both effects back-to-back to get to at the very least a Level 8 Synchro by the end of it. Even with Link and Xyz monsters being the main summons going on from the Extra Deck, there are still powerhouse dragons lurking in the Extra Deck, namely Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon.

Not a bad Synchron to add to the archetype. It can function within the archetype support to enable the synchro climbing Synchrons like to do. Outside that, handy for high-level Synchro Summons revolving around Dragon-Types. The Glow-Up Bulb effect is something any Synchro style will love, even if they need a Level 7 or higher Synchro Monster on the field while Glow-Up needed nothing. Good piece of Synchro Summon support all-around.

A bunch of Yusei support this week, and of course we got to get a new Synchron to the Deck when we get support, so we start with one of the best Synchrons in the game now probably: Revolution Synchron.

Revolution Synchron is a Level 3 EARTH Machine Tuner with 900 ATK and 1400 DEF. Stats are irrelevant for Tuners usually, EARTH is strong, and Machine is always great. So you can use this card from your hand as material for the Synchro Summon of any Power Tool or any Level 7 or 8 Dragon Synchro, which is pretty new for a Tuner to be usable from the hand and not have to be summoned first. This can allow for some pretty interesting plays in several different strategies, especially for access to the recently errataed Ancient Fairy Dragon or a quick Black Rose Dragon just by using a Level 4. Equip Spell heavy strategies can also make a very easy Power Tool Dragon with this as well. It’s a hard once per turn to use it from the hand as Synchro Material, so you can’t just use all your Revolution Synchrons in the hand for free. The second effect is a once per Duel, letting it revive itself from the graveyard as a Level 1 by sending the top card of your Deck to the graveyard, only if you control a Level 7 or higher Synchro of course. They didn’t want this just outright being better than Glow-Up Bulb, which currently remains banned in the TCG only. Still, it’s a great revival effect and the Synchro is likely on the field if you used this from the hand. It can easily help make a quick Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon with whatever Level 7 you might of summoned initially. Revolution Synchron is a pretty strong Tuner, hence why several Decks have used it for a Crystal Wing combo, especially Field Spell strategies using Ancient Fairy Dragon. There’s a lot of potential here for the future as well, an overall outstanding card.

The namesake of Duelist Nexus finally arrives this week, as Revolution Synchron kicks off our coverage of Synchron support from the set. A level 3 EARTH Machine Tuner monster, you can search it with Junk Converter and Tuning, so it’s not hard to access in Synchron decks proper, though you can carry a decent number of copies if you want to splash it in other decks. Revolution’s stats are naturally rather poor, with only 900 attack and a moderately better 1400 defense, but like all Tuners, it’s meant to be a combo piece anyway.

Revolution’s first effect is a hard once per turn, letting you Synchro Summon a level 7 or 8 Dragon Synchro monster or Power Tool Dragon using it in your hand and monsters on the field. The obvious intent is for you to make any of the Signer Dragons as long as you have an appropriate level 4 or 5 monster on the field (the former being much more likely), which is already great, though Revolution has even deadlier combo potential when paired with its second effect, which is a rare once per duel. If you control a level 7 or higher Synchro monster while Revolution is in your Graveyard (which you almost always will if you used Revolution for a Synchro Summon), you can Special Summon Revolution by sending the top card of your deck to the Graveyard, making itself level 1 in the process. This basic combo lets you turn any level 4 monster into a level 7 Synchro Dragon of choice (usually Ancient Fairy Dragon thanks to its Special Summoning effect as an emergency extender), then immediately bring back Revolution to go into Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon for a powerful monster negate, but any level 8 monster you need at the time will suffice. This engine has seen play with Invoked and Vanquish Soul decks just for Crystal Wing since both decks can consistently field a level 4 body. In Synchron decks proper, Revolution is obviously a great extender, but it also functions as a very efficient two-card starter with the Adventurer engine, making Baronne de Fleur with Wandering Gryphon Rider for a layer of protection after it revives itself and makes Junk Speeder with the Adventurer Token. While Revolution Synchron hasn’t been razing the meta, its versatility as an engine makes it a card to keep an eye on in the future.
