Muk
Muk is a challenging card. If your deck
centers around a Pokemon Power, Muk can be the death of you. If,
on the other hand, you don't use Pokemon Powers, seeing Muk
gives you reason to smile. Also, WotC has made recent rulings
that Muk does NOT stop "Come into Play" Pokemon Powers
so Entei's Howl is unaffected by the big blob of goo. At least
he is not weak to Fire in the bargain.
Too bad he doesn't auto Posion like his
Dark cousin. In any event, I'd be hesitant to depend on him in a
Tournament. The best use of him that I can see is in a Slowking
rich enviornment. Other than that, go another way.
Unlimited: Shut down the 'King. 3.35/5
Modified: Too many non-Power reliant decks
to get good milage from this. 3.25/5
Draft: There are much better choices,
although the status effect is nice. 3.0/5 |

Muk (Fossil)
The only reason to play Muk in constructed is because of the
power. 70HP for a Stage 1 is not exactly high. 2 Retreat cost is
pretty bad too. Sludge is a so so attack. It should've been better
since it cost 3 colored energies...
Toxic Gas is probably one of the most influential Powers in the
game. I'm not saying that a lot of people play Muk, it's just that
once its in play, decks that rely heavily on Powers would be
rendered useless.
In Unlimited, there are a few decks that are Power-heavy, Slowking
being the most dominant one. Playing a Clefable-Muk deck would
probably the best way to counter Slowking-Sneasel. Too bad Toxic
Gas doesn't stop Holo Entei's Howl though.
In Modified, there would be a lot of new decks since LC is now
legal. Every decks from Turbo-Meganium to Big Fire would be slowed
down. Although Muk makes a good anti-Power, I just think that Dark
Muk would've played a bigger part if it was reprinted in LC. Muk
kills Slowking in MF very nicely though...
In Draft, there are not that many Power. It's a decent Stage
1 with a Status attack which is always nice, but that's about it.
Unlimited Rating: 3.5/5 (Good against Slowking)
Modified Rating: 3.5/5 (See above)
Draft Rating: 3.2/5

Just so we're clear: If anybody
was playing Slowking in modified, now they're not.
In unlimited, Muk is one of those things you
just can't ignore. Unless you don't play powers, then You can just
laugh. However, it is the ultimate Power hoser. Effectiveness
depends on the environment. 3/5
In modified, Typhlosion has a Power. Gatr
has a Power. Slowking has a Power. Erika's Victreebel has a power.
Lot of powers. Lot of damage done with Muk. 3.9/5
In draft, bleh. Not many powers, not much
effect. 70 HP and a fair attack make it break even. 2.7/5
