Grr…
still not enough time to do a real review, but
unfortunately the only regular reviewer only plays
Unlimited. Since cards are made for Modified play,
even though his reviews are spot on, they tend to be
depressing. ;)
Seriously though, as has already been stated, only
use this card if you insist on using a
Metagross deck in
Unlimited. While it has the best type combination
of them and has both a useful Poké-Power and Attack,
just about any deck you could use them in has better
options.
Modified is an entirely different story. Anything
that can recycle attach
Energy from the discard or from the deck to a
Pokémon likes this card. Since most Pokémon that
attach Energy from the deck do it with an attack or
with Special Energy, they don’t like it as much as
Delta Species Dragonite, which can recycle Electric
Energy from the discard and attach it to Benched
Pokémon in the same manner Blaziken used to (only
targeting Electric Energy instead of Fire). The
attack states you can discard any Energy cards you
have attached to your Pokémon in play
for 20 damage (on top of base 30
damage). So if you attach an Energy card
each turn, you can then recycle up to four more via
that Dragonite’s Poké-Power
to score up to 130 damage a turn.
Thanks to the Poké-Power I skipped over (look at the
top four cards of your deck and draw one), Magcargo
becomes Pidgeot. So you don’t need 3 Stage 2
cards. Two Stage 2 Pokémon and one Stage 1
is crowded, but it’s not
horrid. This card has a very good chance of being
one of the new hot decks. Just watch out for Battle
Frontier. ;)
Ratings
Unlimited:
1.5/5-It does turn Oracle into a no discard Computer
Search, and it enjoys Recycle Energy. The
difficulty comes from protecting its Energy while
supporting its attack.
Modified:
4/5-Tailor made for Modified.
It may flop, but I really doubt it.
Limited:
3.5/5-Even if you just have it bench sitting, its
draw power and can soak a few hits. If you pull
anything to provide a Metal Energy, it’s an okay
attacker. |
