Raichu has no retreat cost, a
characteristic that usually comes with evolved Pokémon
having less than 80 HP.
For one energy of any type, you can do 20
damage to any Pokémon that has a Poké-Power or a Poké-Body.
This hurts a variety of decks. “What deck?” you ask? Too
many decks to list. DustMuk, DragTrode, LudiCargo, Mynx,
MetaNite, LunSol, Rock-Lock, are some of the most
Pokémon Power intensive decks. It’s best asking what
decks does “Zzzap” not hurt.
“Metallic Thunder” is one of the most
expensive attacks in the game. Two special energies to
do 50 damage- that’s just not good. Fortunately, Raichu
benefits from Metal Energy, as it is a metal
Pokémon.
Unlimited:
Instead of making your opponent pay for having Pokémon
with Pokémon Powers, why not just shut them off
completely? With the new Grimer with “Ascension”,
getting Muk [FO] out first turn is not problem. There’s
a Pokémon that has the same attack that Raichu has (same
effect, same cost, even the same name): Pichu [N1].
Pichu is much more convenient than Raichu. Raichu’s low
HP will get it KOed fast, but if you send out a Pichu
with a Focus Band, you could “Zzzap” for quite a few
turns. 2/5
Modified:
There are plenty of non- Pokémon Power intensive decks
out there like, Queendom, Shedstall, Scrambled Eggs,
ParaFlora, Raichu/Exeggcutor δ, and most Flariados
decks. Just hope that you never have to play against any
of them. This card gets a 5/5 in a Raichu/Exeggcutor δ
deck, but otherwise, it is just average.

DX-on: 3.1/5
Limited: 28%
of the Pokémon in this set have Poké-Powers or Poké-Bodies.
Raichu could be helpful. However, good luck being able
to do “Metallic Thunder”. 3/5
