Blastoise
Lightning weakness (matches poorly versus Metanite) and
a useful body that's
sadly stopped by Latilock means this guy is weak stuff.
At least he gets
some sidekick tech evolutions but then again, aren't
there simply better
stage 2s? Yes there are.

A decent card it's pokebody is alright but it is most
likely you would ony get one turn to use it as it
requires him to be on quite low health. May have been
more effective if the retreat cost was lower.

OK, this is not the
best blastoise, but when comboed with the Delta
Blastoise (fighting) from HP, it makes for a great big
pokemon with a lot of HP, and no weakness.
As it stands...too hard to get out, with not enough
benefit. As a Pokebody, it self-references, so you
cannot put another (Base Set) Blastoise out, get it
damaged, and then get +40 damage...sorry.
There are better blastys (even now) in every format but
limited.
Unlimited - 1.5/5 Not many good attacks, and you really
want to play base blasty here. I can see trying a 1 CG
Tech...for...ok, maybe not. More likely a 1 Dela
Fighting tech.
Modified - 2/5 Overpriced attack, was not even
CONSIDERED in an LBS deck, even when you were able to
damage it! Let it go...let it go...Go with Delta and
Maybe one of these in a new Blasty deck...
Limited - 3.5/5 If you can get the squirtles and the
wartys, this is always a good draftable high HP card in
a set with not a lot of lightning threats, and a few
fire threats you can douse!
Have fun.

Blastoise CG
He may seem good at first, and you could make a good
newbie deck with him, but metanite is just to big right
now, and most decks could 2hko him.
He also takes to many energy to do damage
Modified: 1/5
Limited: 3/5
If you can get him out, you pretty much have a win right
there.

Hi there =), Today’s COTD is one of the very few usable
water pokemon in the modified format. This card is
pretty good; it has a power that almost rivals Sizor UF
(Maybe a little bit of exaggerating,) a decent HP, and
an attack that can be easily abused with some (or lots
of) energy acceleration. But, one of the biggest thing
killing this guy is Metanite (a deck with Metagross d
DS, and Dragonite d DS.) As all of the pokemon in the
deck (excluding Holon’s Castform HP) are thunder. This
deck also has a few other critical flaws, one being the
major effort (and damage) needed to make Blastoise do
110 - 130 per turn. Second, there is no reliable water
pokemon that has energy acceleration, meaning you need
to run more than one energy type (or have the
accelerator pokemon not able to attack,) which means
that you have a harder time getting the water energy
needed to fuel Blastoise. Dang, this pokemon is a victim
of the metagame.
Pros –
Good HP
Can do up to 130 damage!!!
Cons –
Bad weakness
Two retreat
Needs way too much energy
Gets trapped by energy removal
No delta basics
Unlimited – 1/5 This card is an easy prize here, stick
with the base Blastoise (which ironically has energy
acceleration.) =P
Modified – 2.5/5 Its alright but, was way to many flaws
and weaknesses to compensate for.
Limited – 2/5 Sadly not good here either, it needs way
to many energy to rune here.
