Back to the main COTD Page

Alazor Grotle (Majestic Dawn)

This guy is a little more aggressive than the Diamond and Pearl Grotle with more options if run together. Both seem to be better than each other in certain instances. iI like this one because it can do 20 and a possible energy attachment for a colorless energy. For 3 energy it can do  40 damage and paralyze.

Modified: 3.5/5 If you run a good Torterra deck, alone this guy doesn't do too much.

Limited: 3.4/5 This guy has high hp and can attach extra energy, so it should work well.
Milk Man

Grotle

TGIF! Today's COTD is a stage one in a stage two chain, clearly made to help ease the pain of developing your tank of a stage two so we all know it won't fair well against the big guns of the meta game so I've decided to do this review in comparison to the DP Grotle, to help those of you who are considering a Torterra deck. MDG (yeah, MDG not MGD) has the same hp, the same bottom stats, basically the same card... except DPG does no damage and you search a leaf energy, as opposed to MDG who does damage, but you attach from your hand. The second attacks both cost 3 energy, with DPG doing 10 more damage but MDG having the chance of paralysis, which certainly isn't bad... except for the coin flip... really all it comes down to is you preference for dishing damage.

Modified 2.9/5 (I give it the edge of DPG though)

Limited can see some use from this guy, especially if you have his evolutionary successor, low energy, acceptable damage, resistance to two of the forerunners of this set (Vaporeon and Glaceon) and acceptable hp make MDG a decent choice.

Limited 3.6/5
