10/9 Poké Radar (LA)
Right, a simple card today (again), Poké Radar, a card
which is a little dependant on how many Pokémon you run
and how many you have used. What this card does is it
looks at the top 5 cards of your deck, and then you take
all the Pokémon you find there, and then the others get
shuffled into your deck. That sounds really good,
getting multiple Pokémon in one go, but if anything,
it's actually a bit of a weaker Master/Dusk Ball. Why?
Now, before I go onto that, I want you to think of every
time you played Master/Dusk Ball that you can remember.
Now, how many times have you used them and got no
Pokémon in those 7 cards? It's probably quite a few
times, and thus, with Poké Radar's 5 cards, it's
probably a little more likely to happen. Of course,
there are all of those times you had more than 1 Pokémon
in those 7 cards and wanted them all, but because it's 7
cards there and 5 for this new card, it's a little less
likely to happen for Poké Radar.
OK, so it doesn't look very likely that you'll get many
Pokémon, but how many Pokémon where you playing in those
decks with Master/Dusk Ball? Probably between 16 and
20-something. Now, the more Pokémon you play, the more
likely you are to get any in Master/Dusk Ball/Poké
Radar. Now, because of this, it's a lot more effective
to use those sorts of cards in decks with lots of
Pokémon. Therefore, the more Pokémon you play, the more
useful Poké Radar is and the more I would recommend
playing Poké Radar in your deck.
There is just one final reason why I wouldn't play it,
or at least not use it as a replacement to Bebe's
Search, with Poké Radar, you are at the mercy of luck as
to what Pokémon you get. You may want a certain one, but
not get it, thus the reason why it will never be a
replacement to Bebe's search, but more of a secondary
searcher.
Ratings:
Modified: It's extremely luck based, and cards like
that, I'm not a big fan of. However, since it becomes
more likely you will get 1 or more Pokémon in the 5
cards for decks with a larger number of Pokémon, it's
worth a try in those decks, though any deck with 20 or
less Pokémon should avoid it in my opinion. 2/5
Limited: A high proportion of your deck here is likely
to be Pokémon, so you should get a couple of Pokémon
with every use of Poké Radar. Also, since it's a Pokémon
searcher here, it's going to be very useful. Still, it's
luck based effect can be disappointing sometimes. 3.75/5 |
