League Leader |
First of all, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is
Collin Skeen, AKA drtomoe123, and I'll be joining you in
the CotD today. I've recently come back from a break
from the Pokemon TCG (I was gone from RS-SF...it was
more of an extended hibernation). However, over these
past few months, I've been completely absorbed by the
TCG world once again (after spending hundreds and
hundreds of dollars on cards lately, I'm starting to
remember why I left...they're too addicting!), and I'm
currently a League Leader and Professor in Southwest
Virginia. I'm glad to join the team. :D Now, onto the
review:
Cynthia's Guidance
Supreme Victors
Uncommon
Yes, we've got another Cynthia card! Cynthia's Feelings
has become one of my personal favorites, mainly for it's
ability to turn an empty hand and a sacrificial, used-up
Azelf into something a lot more productive. I can't
count the number of times where Cynthia has helped me
out of a rough spot, so when I initially saw this card a
while back, I thought, "It's Cynthia, so it has to be
good."
Boy, was I wrong.
Compared her sweet Feelings, Cynthia's Guidance is a
waste of space. If it was a normal trainer, this might
be worth it, but it's a SUPPORTER. If you really want a
card, why waste your supporter for the turn on a gamble
on the top seven cards? Instead, you could just play
smart and play Roseanne's to get a Basic or an Energy,
or even Bebe's to get the Evolution or Lv. X you need.
The only situation I could really see myself using this
in would be in a case where I really needed a Rare Candy
or some other trainer, since Trainer searching is pretty
dry, but if you've got more than 20 cards left in your
deck, your chances still aren't worth the waste of a
supporter. Heck, go ahead and use Bebe's/Roseanne's to
get you an Uxie/Claydol out and then you can show
Cynthia just whose Guidance is more valuable.
Ratings:
Modified: 1.5/5 This card could be useful, but
unfortunately, it's too situational. Go play a good
supporter or something more consistent. Heck, go play
Pokedex, it's MUCH better than this card.
Limited: 3/5 This card gets a big boost here only
because supporters and trainers are hard to come by to
begin with. I'm sure you could be in a situation where
your next 5 cards are energy and at least Cynthia's
Guidance can get something and shuffle.
So overall, if you're playing in the SV Pre-Releases
that are coming up, I'd go with Cynthia's Guidance
solely because there's little else you can have. But if
you're playing from a cardpool that has more than 147
cards, you shouldn't rely too much on this card. Stick
with her Feelings instead. |
