OK, I don’t like this card. Don’t know why, but just don’t like it.

Pokebody that relaunches it into your hand is nice, but it doesn’t have a cool coming into play power, so, it saves you on some night maintenance, TSD, and rescue. Fine.

Attack for 2 water (read NO energy gain support) that allows you to show as many energy cards in your hand as you like to your opponent, do 20 damage times that number, and shuffle your deck afterwards.

Seems, well, just so, eh in this envio. Hard to reproduce every turn, and with Luxray knocking out this pokemon in a hit, and being able to get to it…I just don’t like it.

Maybe when there is some decent fighting support (read next set) to protect against Luxray (next set)…then I might return to this card.

For right now…just too many better options.

Modified 2/5 TOO many better options right now.

Limited 3/5…Much better here with high energy decks, and the power to jump the card right back into your hand.

Floatzel GL LV X

Wow . . . this week seems to be all about LV Xs. Today it is Floatzel’s turn.

Floatzel is another Rising Rivals LV X that has received attention mainly for its PokePower.  Water Rescue allows you to return a KO’d Water Pokémon and all cards attached to it to your hand. This obviously makes for a great addition to any Water deck, especially one with low Energy costs, and which benefits from swarming. In case you haven’t guessed, yes I’m talking about Kingdra.

Combined with Broken Time-Space, Floatzel GL LV X allows you to return a Kingdra, fully charged, to the field right after it was just Knocked Out. As Kingdra is a deck that likes to keep the pressure on the opponent by doing a constant 60 + 20 spread, Floatzel is a real bonus, saving you from using cards like Night Maintanence or Time-Space Distortion in order to keep the swarm going. It does have mediocre HP, and a dodgy Weakness to Lightning, but the fact that it can Retreat for free makes it easy to Level Up and retreat safely to the bench.

Floatzel has an interesting attack too. Energy Cyclone will do 20X the number of Water Energy in your hand, and then return them to your deck. Bronzong SF, with its Cycler Power, would combine well with this, ensuring that you have at least a couple of Energy every turn. At a cost of [W][W] though, it is a little expensive and underpowered, and means that Floatzel will see little or any play as a main attacker.

Rating

Modified: 3 (great tech for Water decks)

Limited: 3.5 (limited decks have a high Energy count so the attack is better here)
