Once again – a 90 HP Pokemon that may have some uses,
certainly more than WASH lol.
With Infernape 4 being more and more popular, there is
the temptation to put a water counter into your deck,
and what better water counter than a lightning Pokemon
that can switch over to a water type? Well, given the
strength of these Rotoms, no answer may be better than
THIS answer.
3 Retreat Cost. Really? Really? Nothing on this Pokemon
is so overpowered to need this big of a disadvantage.
First attack 2 for 10 to each of your opponent’s
Pokemon. Once again, a good attack for 1 energy, but not
2. Too many better choices here.
Second attack, 3 for 40 plus 10 more for each energy in
the retreat cost. Problem, all the big fire monsters you
are worried about (except Magmortar) have small retreat
costs. Still, not horrid.
Weakness Dark, resistant Colorless, yeah, yeah…we have
seen that before.
Overall…not a great choice.
Modified 2/5
Limited 2/5 Slightly better here, but not really.

Frost Rotom
Well, obviously this is meant to be an Ice Type Pokémon
like they have in the video games. Unfortunately, the
TCG doesn’t do Ice, so we have another Water Pokémon . .
. blah.
PokePower: Frost Shift
Allowing to be able to turn into a water type is great
as just like Wash Rotom this card can deal with fire
Pokémon like Infernape.
Attack: Hail
Spread attacks can be very effective (but just watch out
for Nidoqueen RR, which will just heal off the damage).
10 spread for [C][C] is very expensive, though. Prinplup
DP will do the same for a single Energy, and Abomasnow
SF can do double the spread for the same cost.
Attack: Crushing Ice
Aaargh, another overpriced, low damage attack. 40 for 3
Energy is terrible these days. Sure, it gets a boost of
10 for each Energy in the defending Pokémon’s Retreat
cost, but many popular Pokémon have free retreat (Flygon,
Gengar) or have their retreat cost lowered to 0 by
Moonlight Stadium (Tyranitar, Dusknoir). At best, you
will be hitting for 60-70 for 3, which still isn’t that
great.
With a nice, but too expensive first attack, and a
second attack that is too expensive without being nice,
Frost Rotom is probably the lesser of the two Water
Rotoms.
Rating
Modified: 1.5 (Use Wash in a Rotom deck instead)
Limited: 2 (Spread can be quite useful here)
