Arceus LV X (Meteor Blast)
This Arceus is SO similar to
yesterday’s that I am going to cut and paste the
relevant section from that review, instead of thinking
up ways to re-write it (sorry, I’m lazy like that)
All Arceus LV X has the same basic
stats. A solid 120 HP, a decent Retreat cost, no
Resistance, and no Weakness. That last point is the
crucial one. Being able to remove the Weakness of any
Basic Arceus by Levelling Up is a fantastic ability.
This Arceus also has the Multitype
PokeBody, meaning that it becomes the same type as the
Basic Arceus from which it Levels Up. This is another
key feature of the deck, as you use it to try and ensure
that you always hit your opponent for Weakness.
OK, now we can look at the unique
feature of this card: its attack. Meteor Blast does a
very nice 100 damage for [G][R][C]. As with yesterday’s
card, the weird Energy requirements shouldn’t phase an
Arceus deck running multiple Energy types and Ultimate
Zone. Also like yesterday’s card, there is a price to
pay for such a powerful attack. This time it isn’t a
discard . . . it is the dreaded coin flip! Flip tails
and you are looking at doing a mere 50 damage . . . not
good.
No good because, let’s face it, either
you need that 100 base damage or you don’t. If you
don’t, then Omniscient Arceus has many ways of hitting
for 50+ by using the attack of a Fire, Water, or
Fighting type Arceus in play. If you really do need the
100 damage, do you really want to trust to a coin flip
to get it done? Of course you don’t. A coin coming up
tails could cost you a game in that situation.
Maybe if you are running some kind of
weird deck using Arceus as a tech and focussing on the
Fire and Grass types, you could find a place for this in
your list. Otherwise, you would be much better off
sticking with the other two Arceus LV X.
Rating
Modified (Arceus deck): 1.5 (yes, this
is the rubbish one)
Limited: 3 (50 or 100 . . . it’s all good here)
