Musharna
(Plasma Blast)
Hello and welcome to a new week of reviews on
Pojo’s
CotD. We kick off with a look at
Musharna.
What we have here is a Stage 1 Pokémon with a
middle-of-the-road 100 HP. I suppose the ‘attraction’
(such as it is) is Precognitive Dream, and attack which
costs one Psychic Energy and lets you draw three cards
before Musharna falls
Asleep. Using an attack to
draw cards is only really desirable in the very early
game, which Musharna, being
a Stage 1, struggles with. Double Draw
Virizion (NVI, PLB) is
therefore a much better card in this respect, but even
that rarely sees play because most decks will either
have an attack they want to use, or would rather go for
the Tropical Beach Stadium. The Sleep drawback seems
totally unnecessary here too. As far as the other attack
goes, Psybeam offers just 60
damage for three Energy, plus a weak Status Condition
(Confusion) which the opponent can simply retreat out of
(or prevent with Virizion
EX).
Even though our current card pool is completely lacking
in playable draw Pokémon, we still have better options
than this (Electrode PLF, Virizion,
Tropius PLB, even
Musharna NEX), so don’t
expect to see this card at any tournaments.
Rating
Modified: 1.5 (even the cards that are better than
Musharna see very little play)
Limited: 4 (I’d probably use any form of draw here to be
honest)
