3x Bill
3x Prof Oak
4x SER
4x ER
3x Comp Search
(4 more cards explained below)
10 Electric Energy
10 Fire Energy
4x DCE
3x Electabuzz
3x Magmar (fossil)
3x Scyther
3x JigglyPuff
3x WigglyTuff
Hey Chipmunk. I love your trashfests. ITS SO HILARIOUS! ok i
have this
haymaker deck and i need some advice at it, and someone to help me decide
some choices. The strategy is quite simple like other haymakers. I
use
fast hitting pokemon with wigglytuff to back me up cuz it can hit 70 against
other haymaker. My trainers revolve around disruption and searching. I
just
SER and ER to drain there energies and then beat down with buzz or scyther
early, quickly followed up by tuff's wave good bye.
I think my trainers need a little work and i MIGHT run into trouble with
ER. The reason i said MIGHT is because i never played too many ER and SER
decks. Recently, i have thought for a long time and came up with 2 very
hard decisions in my deck. On the list are 56 cards. I have 4 cards
left
and came up with 2 choices of trainers. Should i go with:
3x Item Finder (reuse ER and SER)/1x Energy Retrival (get that last bit of
energy) OR
3x Gust of Wind (disruption)/1x Pokemon Flute (i use comp search to find it
and pair it up with gust of wind to get that easy last prize)
GOODS ABOUT FINDER/RETRIVAL:
1) that 1 retrival can sqeeze that last bit of energy i need against a
removal deck
2) i dont hafta choose between adding 1 last fire or 1 last electric energy,
i can decide in-game to get which energy i need
3) finders bring some SER back to do more damage.
BADS ABOUT FINDER/RETRIVAL:
1) Finders make too much discarding, might not always get 2 useless cards
GOODS ABOUT GUST/FLUTE:
1) Gust of Wind adds to my disruption and will kill those evolving pokemon
on the bench, though my SER will probably do the trick.
2) That last remaining pokemon i knocked out on the first turn will be the
last pokemon i knocked out also.
BADS ABOUT GUST/FLUTE:
1) If i get flute early and my tuff or buzz isn't fully pumped, it wont work
Please help me make this tough decision. I tried so many times with both
combinations and i still cant decide. My name is Roger and please reply at
r_kiang68@hotmail.com.

Ahhh... Another one of those "feared" haymaker decks. I don't
see why
everybody fears it so much. Yes, it wins and it is pretty good, but too
many people are scared of this kind of deck.
Wait. Sorry, but this isn't haymaker. No, it's not your
fault, there is
just a card that people think fits the haymaker type that doesn't belong.
It's the Fossil Magmar. This guy is pretty good overall, but he doesn't
fit
the haymaker type. He's too slow. I know because I tried it and I
won by
decking instead of the normal way you are supposed to win. Unless you play
a Grass deck, Magmar just doesn't have enough speed. Plus, his damage to
energy ratio isn't that high, which is looked at when you make a haymaker.
As for the decision needed in the choosing of your trainers,
here is
your answer... Fit the Finders, Retrievals AND Gusts in. Yes, you can do
it, and here's how. You have 4 card slots left. If you take out 2
Computer
Searches, you have 6 card slots. Then, play 2 of each trainer. See,
it
fits.
What is that I hear? Me getting yelled at for going against
my own
advice for playing multiples? Well, I'm learning, and a few of the things
that I have learned is that a few, VERY FEW, cards can be played with just 1
in the deck. Computer Search is one of them. How can only 1 Computer
Search work, you ask? Simple. Don't rely off of the Computer Search.
When
you do draw it, take full advantage. When you use it, look at your deck.
See what trainers you have yet, and also compare it to the cards in your
discard pile. Check and see if you can figure out which cards are in your
prizes. Then, pull the most needed card. Simple, isn't it? But
what if it
is a prize card, you ask? The odds of it being in your prizes are low.
You
have more of a chance of eventually drawing the Computer Search than you do
of having it in your prizes. This is what is needed. You want to
eventually draw it. And even if it is in your prizes, this is a haymaker
deck. You ARE going to be drawing prizes.
I hope this decision really helps you. I would find another
pokemon
instead of Magmar. He just isn't haymaker material. You don't have
to play
Hitmonchan, though. The Promo Mewtwo that came out in the movie theater is
BROKEN and will be the new feared card. That's right. The new Mewtwo
is
probably one of the most BROKEN cards in the game. You could try him or
maybe even Lapras.
Bob: What is this about the new Mewtwo?
Chipmunk: Oh, only that he is TOO BROKEN to be played.
You can pull off
a 2nd turn 40 damage, and in late game, he really only needs 1 energy to
start pumping. He is extremely broken for the fact that you can play cards
that discard energy off of pokemon or discard energy from your hand and then
have Mewtwo scoop it all up just to help him attack and retreat. SUPER
BROKEN CARD, HE IS! Also, the fact that the cards are sold out and there
being a limited quantity makes it even worse. Only if you had a hook up or
saw the movie TOO MANY times or did extensive trading would let you get many
of the Mewtwo. This allows people with lots of time or money on their
hands
to make a deck that takes less thinking than the Cheese-maker. Or you just
have to have the hook ups.
Bob: You are talking about a certain balding man wearing
glasses that
updates the pojo, aren't you...
Chipmunk: HOW THE HECK DID HE GET 4 OF EVERY CARD AND NOT SEE
THE
FRICKING MOVIE!!! HE DIDN'T SPEND A FRICKING DIME ON THEM!!! AT
LEAST
ANYONE CAN GET A SER!!!
<Editor's Note: I most certainly DID see the movie....at least
once>
Bob: Ohh, so that's what crawled up your butt and died.
I thought it
was the skunks that lived in the neighborhood. Don't worry. People
will
begin to take their hatred off of old hates like Haymaker and SER and focus
on a new threat. This will unite the gamers out there with a common goal.
Chipmunk: CAN'T WOTC DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS?
Bob: WotC approves of any promotional cards being played in a
DCI
sanctioned tourny. There is no stopping Mewtwo. Didn't he already
beat
your undefeated streak?
Chipmunk: THE KID HAD ONE OF THE CRAPPIEST PROFESSIONAL DECKS
I HAD
SEEN. EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT I WASN'T SUPPOSED TO PLAY HIM IN THE FIRST
PLACE IF THE TOURNY WAS DONE CORRECTLY, THE ONLY WAY HE WON WAS WITH THAT
FRICKING MEWTWO!!! HE WON WITH ABSOLUTLY NO SKILL!!! A CHEESE-MAKER
TOOK
MORE SKILL THAN THAT!
Bob: So I take it you have a new hatred to fight instead of
Gastly and
Haunters?
Chipmunk: What the hell are you smoking? I told you to
quit lighting up
the stuff in your front yard. OF COURSE I'M NOT! I'm just taking a
break
to handle this problem and then I'll be back on track.
Bob: Some people never learn.
