VULPIX: I love how he says he "made it in about 5 minutes" and how
there "should be a lot we can do with it." Well, I've been thinking,
and you know what? He's right on both counts. While it might have taken him 6 or
7 minutes (I doubt he was timing it exactly) I think we can forgive him that
small error. And it's true, there is a lot we could do with this deck. I've come
up with two ideas already:
1) Stare at it and laugh until tears roll down our cheeks
2) Trade away all the rares in order to build a GOOD deck
This is one of those decks that looks okay at the very beginning. Magmar,
Hitmonchan--very good. Hitmonlee--decent. Articuno? Wait a minute... how many
colors is that, again? And then Pinsir on top of it. That's when you begin to
get that horrible sinking feeling in your stomach. It's kind of like watching a
plane crash in progress, only not as comforting. The trainers follow a similar
pattern. I'm guessing you began by putting in Oak, GOW, and the two types of
Removal. Then you began to realize that, even with all the energy you were
planning to put in, it was going to be hard to come up with 60 cards. In a
frantic rush, you grabbed every trainer you had and shoved it in your deck.
Hence the inclusion of Recycle, which makes little sense; Full Heal, which makes
even less sense; and Defender, which makes only slightly more sense. And since
there's no way to search for trainers, you're pretty much screwed unless you do
a better job of top-decking than I did the time I was at 4 life and drew
Overrun.
Don't even get me started about your energy. Even Potpourri doesn't run four
different colors of energy. The idea of trying to run Articuno with only 5 water
energy is purely laughable. At least with half your deck being energy, you're
likely to get a lot of it, even if it will never be the color you need.
That's about all I have to say. Now I'm going to go to the bathroom and cleanse
myself by upchucking in the toilet.
SPIKE: You've got an okay concept here. You didn't say what it was, but except
for the other 2 colors, you've got a pretty good fire/fighting haymaker going
here. Drop the grass and water, and maybe the Hitmonlees as well. Scyther
definitely belongs in here, along with his beloved DCE, but you won't need grass
energy. You should be running 4 of each Poke, along with maybe one or two
colorless stall types (Chansey or Kangaskhan.) As for your trainers, I don't
have time to go over all this again, so just look at some other haymakers and
see what they're running. One last thing--Raindance kills this deck dead, so you
may want to think about replacing either Hitmo or Mag with Electabuzz. That's
all.
