**Creaky Door Opens**
Hey Martin
it's me Scuba Steve w/ another
(besides KingCenter) new MMF deck I think will work:
No Name
Deck:
Pokemon (18)
4 Bulbasaur
1 Ivysaur
3
Venusaur
3 Cleffa
3 Ho-Oh (colorless version Neo 3)
2 Tyrogue
2
Wooper
Energy (14)
14 Grass Energy
Trainers
(28)
4 Elm
4 Bill
4 Double Gust
4 Focus Band
3 Pokemon
Breeder
3 Pokemon Center
3 Pokemon Trader
3 Pokemon Tower
The
strategy is to stall with Cleffa, Tyrogue, or Wooper (splashed him in b/c of
resist. and to take on fire poke) while I get a Venusaur and Ho-Oh out. Then
Energy Trans all the energy to Ho-Oh, give him a Focus and Rainbow Burn for
MAJOR damage. This way you also still have the Trans/Center combo and two major
hitters (Venu and Ho-Oh). The trainers are kind of self-explanatory except for
Pokemon Tower. I'm running kind of low on energy so I don't know if it really
fits. After playtesting KingCenter Tower really hurts it, but I'm still not sure
if it's really that helpful in this deck. Thanks for looking at it! Oh yea if
you could come up with a name for it too, that would be cool.
Thanks!
Welcome back to
Martin's Mansion everyone. I took kind of a break from the garage, but now I am
back and ready for duty. Today, we are fixing the Venusaur shown above,
YoWzA!
Pokemon
"I don't get it." You say you energy transe
alot of energy to Ho-oh to do "major damage"? I think you have read the card
wrong. Last time I checked, it does 10 damage more for each TYPE of basic energy
attached to Venusaur, not each basic energy.
Since the Ho-oh strategy
doesn't work out, you will have no choice but to replace it with a better back
up attacker. I would recommend something along the lines of Promo
Scyther.
Also drop the Wooper, they have no place here. They do not begin
to scratch the surface of solving the fire problem this deck has. You would be
better off trying your luck with Pichu to fend off fire since most of the
majorly played fire Pokemon have Powers.
Next, add 3 Ivysaur. Drop the
Packmen breeder all together. In the MMF format getting both the stage 2, and
the breeder in hand is quite a chore, and since Venusaur can't attack turn 2,
it's a bummer.
Add a fourth Cleffa, you need to build.
You may
also consider playing a Neo Pikachu. It helps against Kingdra, and is a game
saver if a Pichu is in an odd mean look
situation.
Trainers
Not too much work here, you have the
right idea in mind with 4 Double gust, bill and elm. They are essential. The
idea of using Pokemon Tower to counter Kingdra is good, I like it. Drop the
number to 2. Often, they won't get defaulted as easy in this format.
Add
1 Time capsule, you must have recovery of some sort. Especially if a Kingdra
gets alot of lucky heads and starts doing a removal onslaught.
Trade 2
Focus Bands for 2 Gold berry. MMF isn't based on 1 hit KO. Use Gold berry and
PokeCenter on Venusaur. Save the Focus bands for the Pichu and
Tyrogues.
Energy
Fourteeeeeeeeen is the loneliest
number-well, the song goes something like that. It will do, it will do fine.
Because of the fact there is almost no removing in MFF and you are able to play
"different" energy amounts. If you feel tight on space, taking more energy out
wouldn't be a bad idea because of your ability to rotate the needed energy
around your Pokemon.
On Second thought, with so much evolution you might
want to go with a fourth Trader. Yes, that will do
nicely.

He coulden't make it today because he is busy watching the hit NBC
show "The Mole" with Satoshi. lol
