I am going to a Super Trainer Showdown pretty soon, and I need some help
with my deck. I basically took the Sponge, and added Hitmonchan to
counter the gazzilions of Wiggly where I live. I think that STS will be
Metagamed like where I go to Tourneys, and Wiggly is everywhere.
Here
is the deck.
10 Pokemon
3 Hitmonchan
3 Electabuzz
2 Ditto
2 Mewtwo
19 Energy
3 Double Colorless NRG
4 Rainbow NRG
4 Fighting NRG
4 Electric NRG
4 Psychic NRG
31 Trainers
4 Professor Oak
4 SER
3 Bill
3 Comp. Search
3 Item Finder
3 Gust of Wind
2 Rocket's Sneak Attack
3 Nighly Garbage Run
3 Scoop Up
3 Plus Power
My goal is to use who is the best against their deck, whether it be
Electabuzz vs. raindance, Hitmonchan vs. Wiggly and so on. I have only
played with it a few times, but it has performed well and gave me the
right energy for the most part. I actually won an entire game with
Hitmonchan + 5 Gust of Wind + 4 Jiggly, a Chansey, and a Damaged Scyther.
Turbo Wigglytuff always used to give me problems with my Rocket Sponge,
and I think this will help, if it is viable. The energy is high, so I
switched to SERs only, instead of my usual 3-3. Please help me with my
deck personally, I really don't care either way if you post this. Thank
you in advance,
-Nathan
Well this deck is right up my alley since I sorta invented these two decks. Let see what we can do for you.
First of all, I really like the Pokemon Mix. I would not change a thing there.
Energy I think is a little off. I think you could stand to lose about 2 energy and still be okay. Go ahead and drop a Rainbow, a Psychic, and an Electric, and add in 1 more DCE. This will free up 2 slots, which we will better use as trainers.
First we have the question of Super Removal vs Energy Removal. I have found the answer to this question lies in your aggressiveness - i.e. your number of Plus Powers. Since you seem more aggressive, I think you should drop all 4 SERs and go with ER - they are faster and I think you'll find they serve you better.
Nighly Garbage Run is a good card, but you're more aggressive, so let's drop that in favor of a 3rd RSA - a card very pivitol to this deck's success. Gust of Wind is another good card, but one that might just have to drop in favor of something a little better in the slot - a 4th RSA.
Finally, we have the dropped Energy. Go ahead and make those Energy Retrievals and you should have no woes with energy.
Give these changes a try and let me know how they work for you!
