First of all, I ask that everyone realize that my name has 2 "t"s in it and only 1 "o". I'm not a big fan of being called Scoot, even if it's a typo, so please. It's not that hard, just double check it. =) Sorry, I'm just griping.
I went up to Independence, MO this last weekend to qualify for New Jersey. I am very happy to say that my journey with ClefairyDoll was very successful for both of us. Ended up with more t-shirts, hats, games and Packs of Gym Heroes than I know what to do with. Only two Game Boys, but I know what to do with those. =) Next up, work on Prop 15, Gym Challenge Decks. Ouch! That's gonna hurt my head. No, we don't know for SURE that Prop 15 is gonna be the format in New Jersey, but if I were a betting man, I'd say that's gonna be the announcement. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
Oh yeah, I had a deck I was supposed to be fixing. Well, let's go ahead and work on that:
Pokemon. Well, I will start by staying that I am not a big fan of doing this, but, I need to pull a color all-together. Magmar, while a BBP (Big Basic Pokemon), just lacks the punch that Trapper needs to be effective. They need Pokemon that will undoubtedly get the job done by turn 3 or sooner. Magmar does NOT cut the mustard. This will be a blessing in disguise, though, as it will allow us to cut our numbers and get in the trainers you need. Cut all the Magmars. Drop 1 Hitmonchan as well. Add in a 4th Scyther and 2 Chanseys. I am almost never a fan of running 4 of any non-evolving Pokemon, but I think it is utterly vital to start with a Scyther in this deck whenever possible, so we'll make 1/2 the Pokemon Scythers. This frees 1 slot.
Energy. With Fire gone, drop those 6. Turn 1 into Fighting Energy and 3 into Full Heal Energy. This leaves us with 2 more free slots.
Trainers. Well, to start, we have 3 free slots. Immediately, kill the Perfumes. They are not what this deck wants. A trapper tries to kill quickly but benching out an opponent. You do not want to force them to play more Pokemon. This gives us 5 slots. Next, kill 2 Garbage Runs. Leave only 1 - you need the room, and trapper seldom needs them. This gives us 7 slots. Let' see what to do with them. Add in 1 each of Computer Search, Trap, Sneak Attack, & Oak. Item Finder is pretty key as well, so go up to 4 there. We have 1 more slot. It needs to be a Goop Gas Attack. If your opponent opens with Erika's Dratini, then you're in some real trouble.
Hopefully this new version will run a little better, even though I think this deck is about as cheesy as Rain Dance. =) Later!
