Today, I will be fixing
David's Kingdra ex deck after yet another long hiatus
^_^;;
“Hello to you, Mr. Patriarch.
My
name is David, I`m from Israel (belive it or not,
Pokemon rocks here!)
I
have started to play Pokemon again, since all other Card
Games became lame.
I
was playing for unlimited with Raindance,
but
i wanted to try a Kingdra ex deck for Modified.
Pokemon 18:
4x
horsea (common from Dragon)
2x
Seadra (Water Arrow)
1x
Kingdra ex
4x
Corphish (#54 from Dragon)
2x
Crawdaunt (1 Holo, 1 Rare from Dragon)
2x
Zigzagoon (SS)
2x
Linoone (SS)
2x
Dunsprace (SS)
Trainers 19:
2x
TV reporter
3x
Wally`s training
1x
juggler
1x
Pokemon Fan club
1x
Prof. Oak`s research
3x
Potion
2x
Warp Point
2x
Double Full heal
2x
High Pressure System
2x
Time Shard
Energy 23:
19 Water
4 Boost
The
strategy is to get Kingdra ex ASAP, and start hitting
the active Pokemon(s).
Since most of the time, the Pokemon will retreat, use
Genetic Memory (for Water Arrow) to hit the bench as
well.
Crawdaunt is improtant to backup, when kingdra ex
is healed.
Hope you can help this deck,
David”
Well David, while it
does need some good tweaking here or there, you
generally have a good idea on what your deck should be,
so that’s cool.
“Pokemon 18:
4x horsea (common from
Dragon)
2x Seadra (Water Arrow)
1x Kingdra ex
4x Corphish (#54 from
Dragon)
2x Crawdaunt (1 Holo, 1
Rare from Dragon)
2x Zigzagoon (SS)
2x Linoone (SS)
2x Dunsprace (SS)”
Here’s where your
problem starts: you focus too heavily on other things,
may it be for lack of Kingdra ex’s, or just a desire to
play something else. Although none of the Kingdra decks
I personally have built used Linoone, let’s leave him in
there for good measure. I believe that, with this fix in
Pokemon, you will be doing what you NEED to do much more
often, and that is relentlessly pounding away with your
hitters, and fast!
-4 Corphish
-2 Crawdaunt
+2 Seadra
+3 Kingdra ex
+2 Dunsparce
“Trainers 19:
2x TV reporter
3x Wally`s training
1x juggler
1x Pokemon Fan club
1x Prof. Oak`s research
3x Potion
2x Warp Point
2x Double Full heal
2x High Pressure System
2x Time Shard”
I’m a little fond of your abundance of Wally’s in this
deck, actually, so let’s keep those. Cards like Potion,
Double Full Heal, and Time Shard do not have the proper
quality in Kingdra strategy that others do, so we’ll
take those out. All in all, this is a reinforcement on
draw, and cards that work amazingly well with a
low-maintenance card like Kingdra ex. For this low
maintenance, we will also find just a little room for
reversals, since Kingdra ex decks are always flexible,
no matter what the variant:
-1 Juggler
-1 Pokemon Fan Club
-3 Potion
-2 Double Full Heal
-2 Time Shard
-1 Professor Oak’s
Research
-1 Warp Point
+1 TV Reporter
+4 Pokemon Reversal
+3 Pokemon Nurse
+3 Steven’s Advice
+2 Copycat
+1 Desert Shaman
+1 Town Volunteers
“19 Water
4 Boost”
Well, since Kingdra is not a very high-maintenance deck,
let’s remove a few water energy so this deck has room
elsewhere. Not too big of an edit here, as usual!
-5 Water
Now, with the tried and true editing of your deck, we
come to this conclusion:
Pokemon (20):
4 Horsea
4 Seadra
4 Kingdra ex
2 Zigzagoon
2 Linoone
4 Dunsparce
Trainers (22):
4 Pokemon Reversal
3 TV Reporter
3 Steven’s Advice
3 Pokemon Nurse
3 Wally’s Training
2 Copycat
2 High Pressure System
1 Desert Shaman
1 Warp Point
Energy (18):
14 Water
4 Boost
I hope this list proves to be a lot better for you, so
that you will do well in future tournies! These fixes
will hopefully prove solid enough to get a mass of
Kingdra ex’s out and attacking, and a Linoone here or
there, too.
