Have we got some news for you this week. Not much new on the STS front, and
the MT's made us try to guess what the Season 3 promo is going to be this
Saturday (I didn't get "the nod", boo-hoo). But the big news this week is
about the upcoming "Pokemon CrossTrainer" set later this year!!!
POKEMON "CROSS TRAINER" SET (aka "POKEMON X")
master_trainer_mike says, "First we'd like to tell you about an upcoming set
coming out later this year called Pokemon CrossTrainer. You may have heard
of it known as Pokemon Tournament or even Pokemon X (from the sign of the
cross), but its official name is Pokemon CrossTrainer."
master_trainer_pat says, "What do you have for us?"
master_trainer_mike says, "It will contain 1 version of all of the original
150 Pokemon in it as well as a balanced mix of Trainer cards from all of the
sets up until Neo: Genesis. It will also contain approximately 30 cards that
had been released in the Vending card sets in Japan."
master_trainer_mike says, "This set is made to help create a balanced game
play format and can be used by itself or in combination with the Neo sets.
It will also be designed for sealed deck play as well. If you've never tried
it, it is another interesting way to try out your deck building skills.
After it is released it will another format that can be DCI sanctioned in
addition to the open environment."
master_trainer_mike says, "It will be available in boosters, theme decks,
and new tournament decks. Tournament decks will contain a random mix of
cards (much like Magic tournament packs) BUT will have random evolution
chains in them (meaning you won't ever get a Stage 2 without the requisite
Stage 1 and basic Pokemon in that tournament deck). These are specifically
made to allow sealed deck play, booster drafts, etc."

have no effect on any events for the upcoming East Coast STS. The format for
the 3 main tournaments will be announced to the public sometime in April."
