One Word, Okay Three Explained the Central Florida Qualifiers: HOT, HOT, HOT! Now before you stutter "Mr. G, you should have brought your sombrero and some Fire Boots from Ocarina of Time," I’m talking about the Competition but the heat was intense inside and outside. But they did have water coolers on hand…
This was the entrance to the Kissimmee Qualifier, the Osceola Square Mall. Now the doors were going to open at 10:00 A.M. for Registration but Mall Security wouldn’t allow it so we waited till 11:00 A.M. While waiting I managed to snag a Metal Energy from GymLeaderHoward from the Books-A-Million Daytona Beach. Afterwards he looked at my deck (which will remain a secret till the Ft. Lauderdale Report) and told me to switch out an EcoGym for an Item Finder. First Mistake of the Day! The doors opened and we scrambled to register.
Once Registered, the Pojo.com Table was Set-Up and we had people of all ages coming over to grab a Activity for a Free Promo Card. GymLeaderDrew, you might have heard him on KPOJ Radio, was also there and helping me out. The Strategy Center, the Qualifier location, was indeed well suited for any large-scale tournament. Very big playing area! They even had a Concession Stand with these Drinks: Coke, Pepsi, Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi, RC, A&W Root Beer, A&W Cream Soda, Sunny Delight, Sunkist, 7 Up, Mountain Dew, Big Red Hound, Hawaiian Punch, Cool Nestea, and Water. Not only did they have drinks they also had Base-Neo Genesis Boosters packs, Base-Neo Genesis Theme decks, card sleeves of every color, and Dice. Many Magic Events have taken place in the building and the staff running the QTs were all experienced…In the Magic DCI Tournaments anyway. This lead to some problems along the way with the Tournament Organizer, John Shannon. This was his first Pokemon DCI Tournament and first Pokemon Experience with Ditto. Without Internet Access, he was without Team Compendium, and Ditto players were in trouble. More problems like:
John Shannon stated "If you have any problems ask our staff" Self-explanatory: Magic Players being asked Pokemon Questions…
John Shannon stated "Drinks are allowed" Oops I spilled something!
John Shannon stated "Yes Drew you may have some tape" Letting GymLeaderDrew tape something is a big mistake especially with a makeshift Pojo Banner.
John Shannon stated "The first thing you do is draw your cards and decide if you want to keep your hand or not" Magic Rules do not equal Pokemon. Riots happened after this, no lies, no lies…But they did clarify it, luckily.
John Shannon stated "No Lunch Break" Aww
But he managed to do some great stuff:
NO PAPER OR PLASTIC COINS! The Anti-Wiggly Association cheered like Wigglytuff was dead (BACKGROUND: These guys are really a Anti-Wiggly Tribe more than association or you could just call em nut jobs. Traditions include The Ripping of a Wigglytuff before a Tournament Starts and Chasing of the Miniature RV Cars, don’t ask). This has started multiple topics at WizPoG about the banned coins. Remember this was only a ruling for this Tournament.
NO PARENTAL HELP! "We want parents to encourage they’re kids to win but we do not want to play the kids" Thank You Shannon!
FREE NEO BOOSTER PACK! Well not for everyone…He gave one to each Partisipant who managed to stay in round one and progress to round two. I think he is living on the street now…
NEW DCI REPORTER! He also introduced GymLeaderHoward and me to DCI Software Version 1.7a. It now allows for judicated victories. If a judge make a call that you have won or time runs out, it is a judicated victory. Instead of the usual 3 points, you get 2 points. In my case someone called Time that wasn’t a judge and screwed up our battle. I earned a judicated victory (2 Points) and my opponent recived a judicated loss (0 Point). Basically if its judicated, its minus one.
Now as for Battling, I was cream of the crop in 14 and Under. Are you still laughing at my deck FlareonMaster? I was undefeated from round one until round eight the last and final match. This would determine who goes to Jersey. I’ll just give you a little hint of what happened:
He gusted out my Chansey. He has one prize and one Slowkings on the bench. Another Slowking was doing 20 to Chansey. I was frantically trying to find a Energy so I could bring out fully pumped Sneasle. Found it after being able to Computer Search, Chansey had 40 Damage, and I retreated it. Did Beat Up with Sneasle and knocked out his Slowking. He sent out the other Slowking, evolved a Slowpoke into a Slowking, and gusted out Chansey. Turns went by quickly and I was unable to use any trainer to get Energy thanks to Slowking. He knocked out Chansey and one the trip.
I’m now trying to receive an appeal from the match as we speak with DCI. Why? He went first with an active Neo Genesis Sneasel and attaches a Japanese Darkness Energy. He does not and never did have a English Counterpart outside the deck. John allowed him to play on. So I might not have to go to Ft. Lauderdale if I receive an appeal.
Anyway after a long day of Battling everyone was invited to join us for dinner at Pizza Hut, we were going to take the tip but they rejected. *Crosses Arms* Fine be that way. Thanks everyone for reading and I’m most likely going to see you in Ft. Lauderdale! Thanks to Pojo.com the best Pokemon Site, ever. Here are some more Pictures for you!
