Well, thanks to Games Unique in Austin, Texas! My bro works
there and this
is the second time I've convinced him to get the manager to hold
a
tournament there. I've got a Mew or two in here... actually, I've
got
THREE!!! Well, it all goes to show that shopping on the 'net can
be a good
thing. Only one of them was pricey, and one I got through the
Pokemon
League at Toys "R" Us. The other one was cheap on the
'net. And I'm talking
about FOSSIL Mew, not Tropical Island or Ancient (Ancient Mew???
Cheap???)
Well, about 16 people here, and it's Double Elimination. It looks
like
-and, as I found out to be true - that they've got GREAT prizes
this time!
Here's my deck - Clone Attack!
Pokemon: 15
Mew x 3
Mewtwo x 3
Dratini x 4
Dragonair x 3
Dragonite x 2
Psychic Energy x 21
Double Colorless x 4
Trainers: 20
Bill x 3
Super Energy Removal x 3
Super Potion x 2
Energy Removal x 3
Energy Retrieval x 2
Energy Search x 2
Gust of Wind x 3
Potion x 2
I knew Mew would come in handy, and very much it did indeed! I
got a TON of
people depending on evolution (Rain Dance mostly) P-I-S-S-E-D!!!
Well, here
are the results:
Round 1-VS a Rain Dance deck
Alright! Time to kick some Gyarados all the way back to
Magikarps! I start
off with Mew, Dratini, Dragonair, Double Colorless, Bill, and two
Psy
energies. I put Dratini out as Active, and Mew on bench. He
started with
Magikarp and a Seel (which he probably wanted to turn into a
pumped-up
Dewgong before risking it) (he probably had 3 other Magikarp in
his deck).
I powered Dratini with a Psy and Pounded. He powered up karp and
tackled. I
evolved Dratini, put on Double Colorless and only got one Heads -
but it
did the job! a Squirtle comes off of the bench and evolves -but
don't have
enough energy to attack! Psy on Dragonair and Hyper Beamed -
taking off his
current energy. He goes "Oh no!" and by the time he got
Blastoise I had
Dragonite already and had stomped all his Wartortle. When a
Gyarados came
off of the bench, it wasn't energized anyways, and Mew came out
and beat it
down to size. Simple win with practically just Dragonite and help
from ER's
and Super ER's. He used a few on me but I got the energy back
quick.
Round 2-VS a Haymaker
When I saw Hitmonchan, I knew I better watch out when I used my
Dratini/Dragonair/Dragonite. But since he seemed to have more of
a
Haymaker/Potpurri as the game progressed, I has chances to use
them on Mr.
Mime's. Mostly Mew and Mewtwo dominated Hitmonchan and Electabuzz
the whole
time.
Round 3-Staller decks get me VERY, VERY ANNOYED.
When this guy say me have Mewtwo as my First Active, he knew what
he had to
do. He left his Mr. Mime out and pumped it up with energy! Then
when Mewtwo
and Mew started assaulting it, it had so much energy that Mew and
Mewtwo's
attacks did 40 damage, resulting in a BIG, FAT ZERO DAMAGE! But
halfway
through the game, that was solved quit nicely. Dratini and
Dragonair beat
his Mr. Mime's down! Then his other Pokemon had no energy left.
Then he
realized he wasted TOO MUCH energy on the Mime's. Too bad! I won
in 3
minutes after the Dra's started comin' to me.
Round 4-About 8 people left now... 8 people relying on evolution!
This guy had Charizard. But the minute it came out, it
disappeared. I kept
him from evolving, then took all the fire types and colorless
down with the
Dra line and Mewtwo (I'm glad I rarely got ER's and SER's this
game... they
get so tempting!) Easy win for me and Mew!
Round 5-I get a bye...
Round 6-VS my bro!
Ack! He knew what kind of deck I was using, and was READY! I was
careful on
using the Dra line... He had Fighting out there. But Mew and
Mewtwo both
put up tough fights whenever he used HIS Psychic Pokemon! He got
the Ghost
Pokemon out... and Mew and Mewtwo got defeated! I send out my
pumped up
Dragonite and attack Gengar... if I beat it I get my last
prize... And I
get 2 heads! But my bro's still in the competition...
Round 7- About 4 left... and I'm fighting someone with a clean
record!
Well, he had a Fighting deck! Not much to say but.. Mew/two, I
love you!
Looking at the other match, both people had one loss already. My
bro VS one
of my friends from school... I join in the crowd watching when
they both
have one prize left, and Blastoise beats down my brother's Gengar
for the
win! Ah, man!
Round 8-If I win, I get first.
Raindance deck again. But I'm without Mew! My Pokemon are bearly
surviving
Blastoise's Hydro Pump, he has 2 prizes left and I have 4... then
the
fateful draw as I have 3 left and he has one... Mew! Dragonite is
clean of
damage when Blastoise takes 60 damage one it. My next turn Mew is
energized
for D-Evolution! I play my SER's, and waste off Dragonite's
energy (OF
COURSE NOT MEW'S!), and waste his Blastoise back to his hand. On
his turn
he has an Aerodactyl on his bench (Aerodactyl in Raindance?!?!?!)
and
CANNOT EVOLVE WARTORTLE AGAIN!!! He adds energy, and Mew's
attacks
eventually take out Wartortle, Magikarp, and finally Aerodactyl
for my last
prize! He couldn't really do anything to Mew, as he had hardly
any energy!
I win! I was right - they got AWESOME PRIZES! I get a Starter
Gift Box (for
the deck I got Water Blast and in the booster I got holo Mr.
Mime), and
one-half of a box of Fossil boosters (the other half goes to
second)! That
means 18 Fossil boosters! I got holo Aerodactyl, holo Muk, holo
Gengar,
holo Moltres, holo Zapdos and holo Dragonite, just to name a
few... well,
thanks Games Unique for another great tournament with another
great prize!
