The tournament was held at Triple Play Cards and Comics in Memphis, TN. It
was held on Sunday December 12th and about 25 people participated. Everybody
was guarenteed 4 games in the preliminary rounds and the top 8 got to go to
the finals, which was single elimination. Here is the deck I used, it is
fighting, electric, and a little grass.

Round 1:
I faced a 9 year old kid who was entering his first tournament. I am 12, the
pairings in the first round are supposed to be by age, but somebody put my
age in the computer wrong. So anyway he had no basic and I drew 2 more, then
he started with a voltorb in play and pickachu (basic set) on his bench. I
started off with hitmonchan and jabbed voltorb to KO him because of weakness.
Then he got out pickachu and did gnaw for 10 damage. I jabbed pickachu and he
had no basic.
record: 1-0

Round 2:
Since they paired me with a younger kid in the first round, they bumped me up
to play an adult (his name was Ryan) in the second round. Ryan had won the
tournament last week but I defeated him in the championship game 2 weeks ago.
But this time it wasn't as easy because when i beat him easily 2 weeks ago,
he used his Rain Dance deck which was easily demolished by my Electabuzzes.
Now he used a fire deck with 3 or 4 Ninetales, Farfeth'ds, fossil magmars,
Scythers, and Dodrios(to make every pokemon's retreat cost free). I started
with Hitmonchan and got smokescreened by his magmar. I finally succeeded with
special punch but he had built up scyther on his bench. I super removed
scyther, put Electabuzz on my bench, retreated Hitmonchan and Thundershocked
him. Then he put a DCE on Scyther and slashed me. I thunderpunched him or 40
damage. Then he slashed and i knocked him out with Thunderpunch. He had no
basic pokemon so I won.

Round 3
I played a girl named Lacy. She played grass and fighting. She started out
with Hitmonlee and I started with an Electabuzz. I Super Energy Removed
Hitmonlee before it could do high jump kick. Then I knocked it out and she
brought out Machop and low kicked my Electabuzz for 40. I brought out
Scyther, put a DCE on him and slashed Machop to death. Then I killed a couple
other pokemon with my Scyther and a new, damage free Electabuzz. After that
she brought out a Paras and a Hitmonchan. I scooped up my old Electabuzz and
put it back down to kill her paras. Then I brought out Scyher and killed her
Hitmonchan for my last prize.

Round 4:
Round 4's pairings are decided by record. I played 1 of the other 2
undefeated guys. His name was Brandon and he played a fighting/fire deck with
Scythers, Hitmonchans, and fossil Magmars. I started with an Electabuzz
(again) and got jabbed to death by a Hitmonchan. Then i brought out Scyther
and got Super Energy Removed. He brought out magmar and poisoned me but I
gust of winded for Hitmonchan, got a DCE and slashed it to death. I put
Hitmonchan on my bench and brought it out before my Scyther died. I Special
punched his Magmar but after that, it was all over for me. He special punched
my Hitmonchan and Electabuzz. I was drawing no energy, my Scyther got super
energy removed. Then I professor oaked with about 12 cards left ( I would
have lost even if I didn't because i was drawing no energy). Then I got
energy removed again and got stalled out so I ran out of cards.
record: 3-1 I was in the top 8 so I went to the finals

Quarterfinals:
I played my good friend Girik. I helped him build his deck so I knew it very
well, it had fossil Magmars, Ninetales, Kangaskhan, Snorlax, etc. He started
with Magmar and smokescreened my Electabuzz. I energy removed him and
successfully thundershocked his magmar, We fought back and forth until he
posoined my electabuzz. I brought out Hitmonchan and killed magmar. Then I
special punched Snorlax twice for the KO. Then he brought out Vulpix and
tried to build him up but I super energy removed him. Then I professor oaked
and it was all over. I just kept pounding away with hitmonchan, scooped him
up, then brought out a kangaskhan and killed the rest of his pokemon for the
win.

Semifinals:
I played John, I have played him many times in the past and know his deck
very well. He is 10 years old and doesn't know his strategy very well. He
uses his older brother's deck, which is really good because his brother works
at the store. The deck contains Electabuzzes, fossil Magmars, and
Charmanders. It also has 4 energy removals and 4 super removals. I started
out with a Scyther to his Magmar. I retreated scyther with 40 damage and
thunderpunched with Electabuzz twice for the KO. Then he brought out an
Electabuzz which I super energy removed. We exchanged thundershocks after he
energy removed me also. Then I scooped up Electabuzz and jabbed his
Electabuzz for the knockout. The he brought out Charmander and did ember. I
special punched him twice for the win because he had no basic.

Championship match:
I faced Ryan again, he had defeated Brandon in the other semifinal game which
made me very relieved. He started with fossil Magmar (incase you haven't
noticed by now, Magmars are very popular in these tournaments). I started
with Hitmonchan and failed to jab after smokescreen. Then he put out Vulpix
and started building him up. I immediatly energy removed him and succeeded at
jab. Then i put Scyther on my bench and special punched Magmar. He brought
out Dodrio and retreated Magmar for free and brought out Farfetch'd. He
failed leek slap and i slashed with scyther. Then he smogged me with Magmar
but did not poison. I brought out Electabuzz and super energy removed
Ninetales. The game went on with me using all my energy removals and super
removals. Then when time ran out (20 minute time limit) we both had 2 prizes
left, so we went to sudden death. He started with Doduo and i started with
Electabuzz. He had weakness to me so he energy removed me after I
thundershocked, then he brought out Scyther. I thundershocked Scyther and
paralyzed him. Then he put another energy on Scyther and energy removed me
again. I failed to paralyze and he slashed me. Then i drew a gust of wind and
knocked out his Dodrio with Thunderpunch! I won the tournament thanks to my
beautiful energy removals! I won $36 store credit.
