Well, this time it's not at Games Unique. A smaller shop in the same mall,
Pokemon Paradise, just opened up. They held a tournament to show people what
great prices they have on Pokemon items. And they do have GREAT prices.
$2.99 for a booster pack, WOW! Lowest I've seen in a while. $10.99 for ANY
deck (including starter). Well, *SLAP* back to the tournament info! My bro
got off work to take me across to the store, but, he has to go back to work
soon as its over. Place: Austin, Texas Date: Dec. 20. This isn't
elimination, but whoever has the best record. So they split it into a
5-round tournament. Ok, everything's clear, now here is my deck, "Do the
Wave," which revolves around Wigglytuff and Blastoise.
Colorless Pokemon:
4 x Jigglypuff
3 x Wigglytuff
2 x Chansey
Water Pokemon:
4 x Squirtle
3 x Watortle
2 x Blastoise
2 x Lapras
Energy:
22 x Water
4 x DCE

Round 1: Trevor w/ Colorless deck
Well, well.. if it isn't the guy who beat my bro for second last time at
G.U! I'm hoping to kick his butt this time! I start off with Squirtle,
Wartortle and Lapras at hand (for my Pokemon, that is). The energy is two
water and a DCE. Then it's Bill. I put Squirtle up first and Lapras behind
it. He has Chansey up and Tauros and Lickitung on the bench. I go first and
Bubble his Chansey. Flip and I paralyzed it! His turn I guess he knows I
wouldn't have put out Squirtle if I didn't have Wartortle or a Breeder and
'stoise. He puts a DCE on Tauros. My turn I evolve Squirtle and put on DCE.
I use Bite. Eventually, since he didn't put energy on it, Wartortle kills
Chansey. Then comes and un-erengized Lickitung. Tauros is fully energized
now and two new Jigglypuff on his bench. Wartortle kills Lickitung in three
turns, but on the third he put a Fighting on Licky and tried to paralyze me
but failed. Next came Tauros. I bit it but it sill killed Wartortle. My
Lapras with 3 Water energy comes out, kills Tauros and gets rid of the two
Jigglypuffs (with some difficulties from Lullaby attacks, however; he never
got 2 energies on them before they died because he spread them out since he
though Lullaby would keep me asleep for a long time). Lapras, undamaged,
killed another Tauros before it could fight back, giving me my last prize. I
guess either he only had like 8 basics or he just got bad luck.
Record: 1-0

Round 2: Rachel w/ Starter deck
This girl was like 7 and barely knew how to play. She had a Starter deck
which would half vanquilize me and half be turn to wet firewood by me. She
got mostly Fighting Pokemon off at the beginning, which caused me some
troubles due to the fact that I started off with colorless Pokemon. We I had
1 prize left and she had 4 (I had started getting the Water Pokemon) She got
out Machamp. It finished off all my colorless Pokemon in one hit! Then a
Blastoise pumped for 60 damage came out and got first strike. I win!
Record: 2-0

Round 3: My brother (Kevin) w/ Overgrowth deck
My brother of cours didn't expect to be let off of work to go to the
tournament when we left home, so the G.U. store manager gave him an
Overgrowth  deck to use. Otherwise, he would've brought a Haymaker deck to
kick my butt! Well, I start off with Chansey as my Active (I had no other
choice) and he gets out Magikarp and Bulbasaur on bench.
I go first and draw... DCE! Whew... I place it on Chansey and Scrunch, but
get tails... Magikarp gets energy and tackles. Next turn I put another
energy (still no basics) and Scrunch again. Heads. His turn he puts on a
second energy and grins. My turn and I drew a Lapras. I put it down, Water
on Chansey and Scrunch. Tails. Next turn energy on 'karp and it EVOLVES!
Dragon Rage brings chansey down to 70. I draw energy and put it on Lapras. I
retreat Chansey and discard the water, then Water Gun. Dragon Rage. Water on
Lapras and Water Gun. Lapras dies. Chansey goes up. I draw Squirtle, put it
down, put Water on it and use a Switch! Bubble paralyzes Gyarados. Next turn
it's paralyzed again (I drew DCE). Then I draw Wartortle and evolve
Squirtle, put on DCE and evolve. Bite. Dragon Rage and Bite. Gyarados is
gone but here comes Ivysaur. It isn't energized for and attack though. Bite.
Still not energized. Bite for the kill. Next comes Weedle. It's dead.
Another 'karp goes away. A Staryu dies and a Bulbasaur. Wartortle beat 'em
all!
Record: 3-0
Kevin's Record: 2-1 =P

Round 4: Dork w/ illegal deck
This kid (he looked about Rachel's age) puts down a Squirtle as Active.. And
5 more on bench!! He only gets a loss, however, because he brought other
cards and someone who works at P.P. helps him make a REAL deck (he never
lost like that before because before he never got 6 Charmanders in his
starting hand and no one counted how many came out throughout the whole
game).
Record: 4-0

Round 5: They matched me up with another kid who has a clean record. He
starts with Vulpix while I get Squirtle. No more Basics for him in the two
turns it takes Squirtle to kill Vulpix.
Record 5-0

I'm the only one with a clean record, giving me first place. I get both
Fossil decks and 12 1st edition boosters: 4 base, 4 jungle and 4 fossil. I'm
not sure why lots of people do this props/slops thing (at first I say Ryan
T. but then I saw quite a few more), but I guess I'll try it...

Games Unique for letting my brother off work to come to the tournament with
me.
My mom for bringing me to the mall for a few hours and telling me about the
tournament so I don't have to be watched by the Evil Babysitter (Moms can
always be so cautious... honestly, I'm 15! A babysitter?! =(
Kevin for placing second and keeping our family a good record at Pokemon
playing =)
