Hello!  Pojo can you list this deck under "Killer Deck Reports" on your
site?  This is a Rain Dance deck and the tourney I went to was held at Bob's
Baseball Dugout, Platteville, Wisconsin.  There were about 25-30 people
there. The rules were you would play four different people, and would play
them each three games, a total of 12 games.  If you won a game you would get
four points, a loss was zero points, and a tie was 1 point.  If there is a
tie then you would play the person you were tied with 3 games, and the best
out of three won, got the place.  First place was 30.00 dollars in store
credit, second was 20.00 dollars, third was 12.00 dollars, fourth was 10.00
dollars, and fifth place was 5.00 dollars. In this Article I will explain
the tourney, how each card in my deck works, and some improvemnents I will
be making.

Pokèmon:
   4 Squirtle
   4 Blastoise
   4 Articuno
   2 Grimer
   2 Muk

Trainers:
   4 Pokèmon Breeder
   4 Computer Search
   4 Professor Oak
   4 Gambler
   3 Pokèmon Trader
   4 PlusPower

Energy:
   21 Water Energy

Now that you know the deck, here is why each cards is put in, and some
possible improvemnts I will be makeing on it after playing in its first
tourney:

Squirtle - Blastoise has to come from somewhere. Squirtle isn’t the worst
starter either with a one energy attack and a chance of paralization.

Blastoise - Rain Dance, that is pretty much all I should have to say. But,
for anyone who is not satisfied with "Rain Dance", then he is
also capable of doing 60 damage on the second turn and every turn after
that, and a 100 HP, WOW!

Articuno - Nasty, Nasty Birdie.  I think Articuno is better then Gyrados.
He has no weakness, similar attacks, same resistance to fighting, and he is
a basic?!  With this guy you don’t have to worry about making room for
Magikarps, and don’t have to worry about keeping the silly fish alive before
he can evolve into Gyrados.  Although he does have less HP, I don’t care, I
still think he is  better.  The cheaper retreat isn't bad either.

Grimmer - Like Squirtle, Grimmer is a decent starter with a colorless that
does 10 damage with a chance of paralization, and evolves into a key Pokèmon
in this deck.

Muk - Don’t get the wrong Idea, this is a Rain Dance deck, but with Muk,
why?! The Mime is, excuse me, was, a big threat to Rain Dance decks. The
only thing that could hurt him was Squirtle, Magikarp, and Poliwag, and
occasionaly Lapras, OUCH!  Other Rain Dance decks never had the Grimer/Muk
family, meaning they had no way stop those annoying Damage Swap deck, and
still had troubles with Mr. Mime.  Well, I didn't decide to put Grimer/Muk
from a guy I played on Apprentice, Mewtwopsychic.

Computer Search - Get me what I need and when I need it.  It is the biggest
card that helps get out the almighty Blastoise on the second turn, or a much
needed Professor Oak... sweet.

Professor Oak - Care to set a record for the most energy laid in one turn?
Great card, just be careful not to deck yourself!

Pokèmon Breeder - Who needs Wartortle?  He takes one more turn of
evolution and isn’t strong at all.  I love Pokèmon Breeder!

Pokèmon Trader - Get that Blastoise out fast, almost as effective as a
computer search.  And if you have only one Muk left in your hand and dying
to use the Oak you have been saving then trade that Muk in for a basic, lay
it down and Oak away without discarding that much needed Blastoise/Muk.

Gambler - Professor Oak is a lot better, but this guy is a type of
substitute.  Also if you save this into your hand until your about to deck
with lots of cards in hand, then this is your card, and better then in Oak!

PlusPower - It is amazing how much 10 more damage can help.  Blastoise’s
fully charged Hydro Pump always comes 10 damage short of killing Scyther,
Hitmonchan, Articuno, and the biggest threat to Blastoise, Electabuzz.
PlusPower makes sure you take that you will destroy Electabuzz before he
has a chanse to take you out with two Thunder Punches.

Water Energy - Yes, I know, the energy is low.  But with so much deck
manipulation, energy shortage is never a problem, and you can easily last
through even the cheesest of Energy Removal decks.

Some changes I am making in this deck is that I will probably take out
Pokèmon Traders and put in one more energy and two Gust of Wind, or just
three Gust of Winds, I am still deciding. I will tell you how the two most
important matches in detail, and the others with a brief discription.  Well,
here is how the tourney went:

Round 1 - Me vs. A little kid with his father

First Game:  This guy played a well built Fighting Haymaker.  I deployed
Articunos fast and built them up with Rain Dance fast.  And easily killed
him.  The kid had a good deck, but couldn't stop Articuno.  I won.

Second Game:  Got out Blastoise second turn.  Didn't even use Articunos in
this match, just Hydro Pumped my way to victory.

Third Game:  Almost the exact same as the first game.  Got the win.
The kid probably did well against other, just couldn't stop the Articuno.

Round 2 - Me vs. Some guy that liked to cheat

First this Game:  He played a descent lighting/grass deck, but this kid
loved to cheat!  First game he started with a Voltrob and a Pikachu and
another Voltrob on his bench.  I always tried to draw two cards at the
begging of his turn!  I easily beat him with my Articunos/Blastoises.  I
don't think he had ever seen a Rain Dance deck played with in he life.

Second Game:  I was watching him secertly as he shuffeled and watched him as
he got the cards he wanted on the bottom his deck and put them in his hand.
I said "You cheater, you can't do that!"  He said "Shut up I don't cheat
unlike you!"  I gave up on trying to tell him to put his hand back, and he
said "My hand rocks, you'r toast."  He layed down a single Rattata, and I
put down a Squirlte as my active, with a Articuno on my bench.  He went
first since he lost last game, and used Bite.  I layed an energy on Squirtle
and used Bubble, and Paralized Ratatta.  He took his turn laying another
energy and didn't lay another basic, yes.  My next turn I used Computer
Search to find a PlusPower and used Bubble for the win.

Third Game:  This game was even easier then then the last!  He layed Ratatta
again and I layed Squirtle.  He went first again and used Bite again.  I had
a PlusPower and layed it one squirlte along with and energy.  I used an Oak
I had in my hand and drew a Computer Search to find another PlusPower, and
killed him again.

Round 3 - Me vs. The "New Guy" with a great Haymaker deck

First Game:  This was his first tourney here at Bob's Baseball Dugout.  He
had a Haymaker with Elecabuzz, Hitmonchan, and Scyther.  First game I
started with a Articuno and two Squirlte on my bench.  He had Scyther as his
active and two Electabuzzes on his bench.  He won the flip and retreated
Scyther for an Electabuzz and used Lightning Shock,  no paralization.  To
make a LONG story short, I eventually got my Blastoised out, and pumped
Articunos, and he got all four of his Scythers on his bench, and when I did
almost killed one, he retreated in favor for another one, or used Scoop Up,
err.  I eventually decked, and lost.

Second Game:  He started with a Hitmonchan as his active and a Electabuzz on
his bench.  I had a lone Squirtle as my active.  I went first and used
Bubble to do 10 damage and paralize Hitmonchan.  Next turn he used Scoop Up
to bring Hitmonchan to his hand, and brought up Electabuzz. Strangly, he
didn't play Hitmonchan, but anyway, he Shocked me for 20 and paralized me.
I, luckily, drew a Pokèmon Breeder and had a Blastoise in my hand and
squirlte became Blastoise.  layed three energy on him, used Oak, drew more
energy and Computer Searched for a PlusPower.  After 6 energy on him and a
PlusPower, I had done enough damage to KO Electabuzz, and claim the win.

Third Game:  This game he didn't get out Electabuzz and fast, and things
were lokking good for me.  Well, he eventually got out Electabuzz and he was
SOOOO lucky with flips with Lightningshock and Punch that he killed of my
Pokèmon one by one without much effort, darn another loss.

Round 4 - Me vs. A kid from school

First Game:  He didn't have such a good deck and I easily took it out, I
don't really want to explain my matched with this kid, I am tired.

Second Game:  ...

Third Game: ...

END OF Tournament - The kid with the Haymaker deck got first with only one
loss, me being the only one that beat him, and I tied for second with
someone from school.  We had the tie breaker, which was three games.  Two of
the games he got Aredactyl out second turn, and I could only fight with
Articunos and Squirtles, I lost those two.  One game I won since I got
Blastoise out before he could get Aerodactyl, and won.  Darn got third
place.  I am putting in Gust of Winds so that I can pull out Aerodacrtyls.
Next Wensday (Not Saturday since it will be Christmas) I hope I will do
better, since this deck has been tested in a tourney.
