The
Stategy
Well, first let me say this is
an awsome deck! It's gotten me first place twice in a row now! I hope you
like this report, I made it into a real eyecatcher. Anyway, the deck is
pretty strait forward. You try to get a lapras out (articuno can also work
sometimes) and use watergun and confuse ray to stall while you are building
up energy on your jigglypuff (let's assume you have a jiggly, arti, and
squirtle on your bench) don't bother with the arti and squirtle because you
can always raindance them. Try to use a computer search-oak combo by
computer searching for something you need (say a pluspower or a wigglytuff
or a squirtle) an put it down, then professor oak. Always make sure that if
you have a computer search and 3 or less cards in your hand to always search
for an oak. Try to use arti and wigglytuff as your two main attack pokemon,
because you probably want to keep blastoise on the bench because if you lose
him, you lose raindance. When using articuno and the opponent has more than
50 hp, don't use blizzard, use freeze dry so they probably won't be able to
move next turn. And finally if you get a bad starting hand with say squirtle
and puff, always put puff out and start singing so you can stall until you
get some good cards. I hope you enjoy this deck, took me a while to get it
ready.
The
Report
The tourny was at a comic store,
in Olympia Washington on Saterday the 18th of December. I dominate it every
week with my haymakers and haymaker accesseries :) but today I wanted to try
something different, so I created hydrowave.
Round 1 vs a lighting deck (yikes!)
This kid was too confident. I started with a mullagin and got out a
squirtle. He got 2 electas and a pikachu jungle on his bench. I went first
and drew a blastoise, I already had a pokemon breeder in my hand so woohoo!
I bubbled and para. Next turn I drew an arti, retreated my squirtle,
evolved, and oaked. From there on I started wooping him with my articuno.
When he finally knocked that out I started attacking with my wigglytuff. He
couldn't believe he lost and claimed that I cheated by only laying down 4
prizes (hah!>
1-0
Round 2 vs a fire blast deck (I think)
squirtle+3 oaks for 4 pluspowers total 1st turn kod his vulpix, sorry
man.
2-0
Round 3 vs a stall deck
It started out really bad for him, then he evolved an abra and started
swapping with his mime for a while, but I eventually won using lapras and
some heavy wigglytuffing. This match was kind of a dissapointment because
before I could beat him he said that he was tired and conceded :(
3-0
Round 4 vs a haymaker varient
This kid had been trying to copy my haymakers for a while. I didn't expect
any trouble. He came out blasting with a hitmonchan but by articuno soon
made short work of it. The he started thunderpunching with his electabuzz
and I was just about to kill it when he decided he would start stalling me.
He started using scoop ups and scythers and item finding for scoop ups. It
got really boaring. At the end of the half hour I had about 7 cards left in
my library and 1 prize left. He had 4 prizes left and since I was ahead I
won.
4-0
Round 5 vs a clefable deck
Basically we battled until it was down to 1 prize to 1 prize and then I
blizzarded his active ditto, knocking it out and getting heads thus knocking
out 3 other pokemon on his bench. I hate decks that make those kind of
pokemon do their dirty work using your own cards.
5-0
Round 6 vs a really hard haymaker
This was a really hard match. He started out with hitmonchan and I started
out with jigglypuff. I got really lucky first turn with sing, after he
flipped tails at the begining of his turn he told me that I was really lucky
because he had a fighting energy in his hand and 2 pluspowers. I finally got
wigglytuff out and then oaked a couple times to get my bench full. I started
waving him and beat him by 2 prizes.
6-0
Round 7 vs a tauros/dragonair deck I think......
This was a really wierd deck. He was using tauros/dragonite/machoke
evolution and hardly got any energy the whole game. This match was really
really really easy because I just kept taking out his tauroses with do the
wave. It did get scary at the end though because he started doing a
succesful stall maneuver on me.
7-0
Round 8, BYE
8-0
Finals!
First finals round vs the kid with the stall deck
First turn jiggly+dce+pluspower killed his abra. What else can I say?
FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP!
I played against someone using a gengar/mr mime deck. This was the toughest
round I had yet because he kept bringing out gengar and doing 30 damage then
bringing out mime and ko. I decked him because he used about 4 oaks and bill
and if you count item finders about 6 oaks and 5 bills. I WIN THE
TOURNY!
I got 50.00 store credit which I used to buy a computer pass and booster
packs. This was a really good tourny. WELL THANKS FOR READING MY REPORT! I
am open for any suggestions you have, just email me, Proteus (or Pro) at
proak@altavista.com. I also hope you liked the layout of my report, I
thought it was really snazzy :)
