Well, since Saturday is usually when Games
Unique has its tournaments and this Saturday is Christmas (and tomorrow is
Christmas Eve), Games Unique decided to have a tournament today (December
23rd). Well, I used a new deck that, along with getting 3 cards each time went
to the movie (we went twice) and some trading, turned into a Zap deck variant
using Mewtwo and Pikachu from the movie promos. It also has some other basic
electric and psychic Pokemon, hence the name "Lights, Camera, Zap!"
Well, my brother couldn't attend this tournament because he had to do some
last-minute shopping, so my mom just dropped me off and gave me a quarter
saying "call me when it's over." = ( I'm all alone!! Well, the
fact that there's only one other familiar face here didn't help that feeling
either. Of course it's in Austin Texas. This is a Single Elimination, and
there is about 32 people here {ACK! A LOT TO BEAT! = ) }
Also a new feature for me: I include some two Lt.
Surge's Pokemon!! The Pokemon are his Level 32 Raichus. Here are the stats for
Lt. Surge's Raichu:
Lt. Surge's Raichu: 70 hp/2 retreat cost
2 electric energy: Megaton Punch (30)
4 electric energy: Thunder (100)
Discard all energy cards on Raichu to use this
attack.
Here is "Lights, Camera, Zap!"
Psychic Pokemon:
4 Promo Mewtwo
3 Mr. Mime
2 Fossil Gastly (to get back Electric energy)
Electric Pokemon:
4 Promo Pikachu
3 Electabuzz (regular)
2 Raichu (Lt. Surge's)
Energy:
15 Electric energy
15 Psychic energy
Trainers (low amount due to high energy need):
3 Bill
2 Energy Retrieval
2 SER
3 ER
Now for the deck report (this time they had the
coolest first place prize: Pokemon Yellow for Game Boy, half a box of Gym 1
cards and half a box of Gym 2 cards; the other halves went to second place,
the only familiar face this time (my best friend) :
Round 1: Brian w/ Haymaker (UH-OH...)
In my hand my only basic Pokemon is Pikachu. I
think I'm gonna lose bigtime if a Hitmonchan comes up. The fact is it was a
Scyther up against me! I Bill and get Gastly. Gastly goes on bench and I put
electric on Pikachu. Recharge. Scyther gets a Grass and Swords Dance. I know
better than to worry: he doesn't have a DCE or he'd be grinning. So I play
cooly, draw, put and electric energy and Thunderbolt! His turn he puts another
Grass and Swords Dance. NOW I WORRY! But I play cooly: I need Gastly out
anyways to get back some of Pikachu's discard. I put a Psychic thatwas in my
starting hand on Gastly and end my turn. HE puts down a Grass and beats down
Pikachu: But I'll get that Scyther back. Another Ppsychic on Gastly and Energy
Conversion, but first an ER. His turn and he ends his turn after drawing. He
didn't have any more energy in his hand! Gastly takes him out after that with
two Licks (the first one paralyzed him). An Ekans comes off the bench. He
energizes it and Spits Poison at Gastly. Gastly took 10 damage but next turn I
already had another Gastly on my bench so I switch Gastlys, then switch back.
Lick doesn't paralyze ekans. I'm energizing a 'buzz on my bench already and
his turn. He poisons Gastly again. I repeat my un-poisoning steps and destroy
his Ekans. Here comes a Gloom. Gloom Foul Odors - not a smart move, as he
finds out soon. In a few turns with help from his dumb move of confusing
himself Gloom dies by Electabuzz. Lucky flip kills two more Ekans and out
comes a Scyther that takes 'buzz out. But what's this? Mewtwo! In two turns I
win.
Round 2: Trevor with Raindance
Trevor, AGAIN?! Well, I've got a surprise for him
this week, thanks to his unlucky choice of Raindance. I start off with
Electabuzz and he has... Magikarp?! Dang! He goes first and Tackles. I
paralyze him with shock. But he BREEDS a Squirtle on his bench to Blastoise
and evolves 'karp, then Rain Dances to get a fast Dragon Rage. I call over a
judge to look through his deck - stacked! Poor, demented Trevor... he
should stop hanging out with people who need to be in mental institutes at
school - he thinks no one would notice it is stacked when on his next turn
he'd have his bench full and a Blastoise already pumped for 60 damage retty
much.
Round 3: "Kubone Kid" w/ Fighting deck
This kid LOVES Cubone/Marowak and so he is
nick-named Kubone Kid. I'm in for a BIG whooping, unless I get some Psyhic out
quick. My starter is Mr. Mime, and his is Hitmonlee. Me first. Mr. Mime
energized. Hitmonlee energized. Mr. Mime energized: 20 damage. Hitmonlee
energized: 20 damage to my Gastly on my bench (he sees I have promo pikachu
and makes sure Gastly can't get energy back). Mr. Mime attacks and beats
Hitmonlee. Hitmonchan comes out: Mr. Mime, wtih luck of his forgetting about
Mr. Mime's power and using Special Punch kills it in two turns. No basics for
him and I win.
Round 4: (((Semi-finals))) Yoki... Yokuma...
something like that w/ Psychic deck
On my second turn my Pikachu is almost dead from
lucky flipping Jynx and I have no basics when I draw Gastly. I let Pikachu
die. Gastly comes out, beats Jynx w/ help from paralysis and then two Abras
and a Drowzee die. No comes Kadabra, but with ERs it couldn't Recover and it
dies. Gengar comes (Uh-oh!), Gastly retreats and Mr. Mime does its work. Win
for me.
Round 5: (((Finals!))) "Gary the Great"
(my friend) w/ Haymaker
Unlucky for him I start with Mewtwo and he got
'chan. I go first and kill his 'chan before it could kill me. Then comes 'buzz
with one energy, no Paralyze and Psyburn takes it down when Mewtwo barely has
10 hp left! Luckily a Raichu is powered with 2 electric, Scyther slashes down
Mewtwo, but Raichu destroys it with 10 hp left. A Farfetch'd comes, fails on
Leek Slap and DIES. More Farfetch'd comes and die. He really did use
Farfetch'd in there. But I beat him anyways.
Wow! Great prizes! Well, time for PROPS and SLOPS
PROPS TO Games Unique for giving THE GREAEST
PRIZES EVER!
PROPS TO Brian for being fairly hard and worrying
me so much that I'll lose

out with kids who I bet do drugs

shopping until the last day
