Hi, my name is Andy Jordan and I participated in Comic Company's Pokemon
tournament. This tournament was held on Friday, October 1st, and the
store's in Atlanta. It had 30 participants, and I won it. Here is my deck,
which is named Hitmonbuzz:
11x Lightning Energy
11x Fighting Energy
2x Double Colorless Energy
4x Hitmonchan
4x Electabuzz
4x Jungle Pikachu
3x Scyther
4x PlusPower
4x Bill
4x Professor Oak
4x Energy Removal
3x Super Energy Removal
2x Gust of Wind
The format where you played two games, and if you split them, you played
Sudden Death. You got points for how many prizes the other person got, and
their were four rounds. Luck have it, in my first match I'm paired against
the store champion, Mead.
First Match v. Mead
First Game:
Mead is known for his stall decks, so I was surprised when brought out
Poliwags, Hitmonchans, and a Tauros. I smoked him with Energy Removals,
Slash, and Special Punch.
Game Record: 1-0
Second Game:
He takes Poliwrath out on the fifth turn, but I kill him with Scyther. He
has to put Tauros. Special Punch. Splat. Win.
I've gotten 13 out of a possible 17 points, and I'm feelin' good!
Match Record: 1-0
Second Match v. Tyler
First game he only got out a Magnemite and Pikachu, and I've got Hitmonchan
out. You know what happens.
Game Record: 1-0
Second Game:
He gets a Mewtwo out, and kills my Hitmonchan. I pull in Scyther, and he
gets Mewtwo dead, letting another Hitmonchan destroy Pikachus and Magnetons
Match Record 2-0
Now I have 29 points, and I'm in third place!
Third Match v. Aaron
Today, I didn't get the best draw. I'm paired with last week's second place
finisher, who today dressed up as Ash. He only draws Machop, which is no
match to Hitmonchan and PlusPower
Game Record 1-0
Second Game:
He gets Abra out, Machop out, and Hitmonchan out. I started to worry, but
Super Energy Removal takes his energy and out comes Hitmonchan. Special
Punch dominates him.
Match Record 3-0
Now I'm tied for second and one point behind first! My friend was in
second, and another friend was in first, so I want to beat them bad.
I hope to play them, but instead I get horrible news: I have to play a
MEWTWO BARRIER DECK! I hoped that Energy Removal would work, so I got to work
Fourth Match v. ???
I forgot the kid's name, but Hitmonchan knocks out Chansey, and Super
Energy Removals ravish his Mewtwo
Game Record 1-0
Second Game:
He used his Mewtwo to kill Hitmonchan, leaving me open to knock out his
Mewtwo with two PlusPowers and a Special Punch!
Match Record 4-0
I had 57 points, and beat the second-place finisher, Jeremiah by three
points. Also, Jeremiah's final opponent, Sydney, placed in 5th.
Getting first I won three normal booosters, two Jungle, and one Topps
booster. This was the first time had used this deck, and it's now my main
deck. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at
