The point of this deck is to
win, and you will see how it does just
that.
The tournament was held in
Clayton's Card Shop in Jacksonville,
Florida. In the first round, I played Mike from Orange County near
Jacksonville. He put out a Grass/Psy deck. Perfect. He won the
toss and
put out a Bulbasaur. He attached a grass energy and drew a card from the
top
of his deck. He smiled. I put out a Base Magmar, and attached an
Energy too
a Fossil Gastly who was on my bench. He put an Ivysaur on the Bulby, and
attached another energy. I could see where this was going. He used
Poisonpowder. I attached another energy to Magmar, and Fire Punched.
Ivysaur was gone. Stupid move. Now he couldn't use his Venosaur.
My Gastly
who was now a Fossil Haunter finished off the rest of the bunch, including
Alakazam, and I won.
The next kid was a trainer of Water
and Grass who had barely won the
previous game with his slightly improved Overgrowth. He never drew
anything
good except for a Gyardos lacking energy. I whipped him like cream.
The next kid had a Blastoise and a
Charizard. I acquired his Gengar
for an old Magmar before fighting him. The conflicting elements of Fire
and
Water rose up against me, but I stood my ground. Here's the story.
He won the toss, and threw out a
Magikarp. I sent out trusty old
Moltres, and attached a Fire Energy. Two more were in my hand. A
Wildfire
raged in the sea of blood where Magikarp swam. The two energies I killed
took a Gyardos . . . and a Blastoise down with them. His face clouded up,
and in anger he attached a Gyardos that had survived the fire out on
Magikarp. Attaching another energy, he said with hatred in his eyes that
Gyardos would put out Moltres' fire. I calmly pointed out that Moltres had
no weakness. Boy, was he mad. Well, here's the rest of the story in
a few
words. Gyardos killed Moltres, then Magmar. Mr. Mime, however, gave
me the
win.
In the finals, a kid named Jamison
tried to beat me with . . . what
do you know? a Raindance deck. Why does everyone like these?
But hey,
you've gotta admit, they beat fires like mine. This time I won the
toss,and
sent out Jynx, who beat his Squirtle with doubleslap. Then it really
started. He put out an Articuno, wearing two energies. Then the
loser used
an Energy Removal on me. I reattached my Psy, hurting Articuno ten.
Articuno, now powered up from a Blastoise, used Snowtorm, hurting Jynx fifty,
and my Benched Pokemon, Magmar, Moltres, and Gengar, ten. I hurt him
twenty
this time, and he killed me for it. Out came newly powered up Moltres,
fresh
from the fire. I used Wildfire because he was lacking one energy, but all
I
killed was two water energies. Articuno did thirty to Moltres, attempting
to
paralyze the Firebird, but he failed in his plight. I attached one more
energy for the kill. Blastoise killed Moltres. Gengar killed
Blastoise.
Lapras was ghosted by Gengar, as was his second Lapras. Then the final
battle came. A severely damaged Gengar against a damaged thirty Articuno,
courtesy of Gengar's BenchKilling moves. Curse. He moved a counter
from
Blastoise to Articuno. Now for the kill. A Dark Mind took Articuno
to the
Afterlife. That is what a Flaming Ghost does. For winning I got one
Fossil
Theme Deck, and two Fossil boosters, in which I got a Holo Lapras, a holoo
Articuno, and a Hypno.
