The Haymaker II
by TheKev
I remodeled my Haymaker a bit, just for fun, and played in a tournament. This is my 6th tournament ever, and I did really well again. Well, here is my slightly tweaked Haymaker. I like my other one more, but I was tired of the same pokemon over and over.

The tournament I played in was hosted by Beyond Fantasy in Edmonton Alberta Canada. This time, 16 people joined and we had a Best of 3 single elimination. I enjoyed the round robin format more but, oh well.
Round 1 - vs. Bryan (Raindance)
I went to the tourney with my friend Bryan and guess who I face first. He played me a few times and lost every time, but not by much. In the First Game, I started with a Kangaskhan and a Hitmonlee. I couldn’t do anything but fetch for a while, while he was building up his Blastoise. I eventually got a Scoop Up, and Brought out Electabuzz, with 2 Pluspowers and a litttle luck to kill Blastoise, Articuno, and eventually the rest. On the Second Game, He got a Kangaskhan and Articuno, and I had a Scyther. I’d hit him once, and he’d super energy removal me. I killed his Kangaskhan, and he brought out his Articuno with a Blastoise and Squirtle on the bench. The following turn was very long, he energy removaled twice, professor oaked, breeder, second blastoise, Lots of Water Energy, Kangaskhan, Another Oak, Articuno, Squirtle and more water Energy, 2 bills. He killed Scyther but I realized his deck was pretty small. I kept getting Scythers and Electabuzzes. I scooped up Scythers twice and held him off with thundershock (few energy). He was down to 1 Card (two turns) and 1 prize to go. I gusted his Wartortle, and he conceded. Tough one.
Round 2 -vs ? Electric Deck
He brought out numorous Magnemites, 1 Magneton and self-destructed a lot. He powered up his Zapdos but I gusted killed, it with Hitmonlee’s High Jump Kick, and 2 Pika’s for the win. The second game was very similar. Self Destruct fest 99. Electrode ‘s Buzzaps and more. This time he powered up Raichu. Gust and Special Punch killed it.
Round 3 - vs Mike (Mime deck)
He is view at as the best player at Beyond Fantasy. I keep challenging him but he’ll never play non tourney. I’ve never played him and he apparently runs the place. He starts off with just 2 mime. I got Hitmonchan and Scyther. Hitmon and Mime exchanged blows. I killed a mime, and he killed Hitmon with the other Mime. I then drew another Hitmonchan and jabbed it some more. He didn’t appear to be getting any basic but he Pokecentered twice. He eventually got an Abra and had Kadabra in his hand. I gusted and killed Abra before it can evolve and killed Mime too. Round two: He looked at his hand , conceded and packed up. Everyone was confused about why he conceded, and I got no credit for beating the so-called champ.
Finals - vs. Damien (haybreaker)
This game was only one game, not 3, just to make it interesting. He calls his deck the Haybreaker because he bases his deck around beating the Haymaker deck. It had Scythers, Farfetchd, Jynx, Mr. Mime, Ghastly, Haunter and Gengar. I got a good start with a Scyther with Double Colorless and took out a Farfetch’d with it. I then went up against Haunter, where I got two good coin flips to beat him down. He brought out his powered up Scyther so I retreated with 10 HP left. I hit it once with Ponyta, he retreated and brought out Mr. Mime. I gusted his Scyther, finished it off and beat down Mr. Mime and Jynx with my Jigglypuff. Break That!
I walked off with 5 fossil packs. Got 1 holo Lapras, 1 holo Hitmonlee, 1 Articuno, 1 Moltres, and 1 Golem.
