The tournament was held in Huntington Beach, CA on October 23, 1999 at a
comic book store called Dark Star. There were about 30 people playing in
the
tournament (give or take one or two people) which made it very hard to
advance each round. this is how the tournament worked, 1st there was a
three
round elimination which means everyone played three rounds and the top eight
players advanced to the next round. 2nd the eight players battled each
other
and the four winners advanced to the semi-finals. 3rd the four people battled
and the two that lost would battle next for 3rd and 4th place and the two
that won battled for 1st and 2nd place. That was how the tournament was
played. Before I describe each round I will share with you my victorious
deck, Enjoy!

This deck is great for the type of player that likes to attack their opponent
head on first round with lost of damage and kock them out leaving their head
spinning. This deck does just that, and for those of you that hate those
ever soo annoying stall decks, this one eats them for breakfast. Everyone
knows that stall decks rely on chanseys and kangaskhans right, well
hitmonchan hits them were it hurts, first round and exploiting their
weakness. Some of you might be saying " well what about scyther, you
have to
wait a while to use him." Just put him up and when you draw someone else
retreat him for free and attack. Haymaker Blitz is also great for all
those
beginners out there that want to go into tournaments and not get eaten alive.
This deck is very simple to use and there isn't that much strategy involved.
So for all you beginners try this deck and have fun! Now this is how the
tournament went,
game 1. too bad for this guy, he played with mostly colorless
and water.
My first three pokemon were Electabuzz Hitmonchan and two machops. His were
jigglypuff, 2 squirtles and a magikarp. Unknowingly he put up a squirtle and
I Electabuzz. Since I won the toss I atacked with thundershock and paralyzed
him. wisely he retreated and put up jigglypuff, but lullaby failed since I
flipped the coin and got heads. I used gust of wind and finished off squirtle
with a thunder shock. He put up jigglypuff and pounded me for twenty. Bummer
for him I had two pluspowers in my hand, I retreated and replaced with machop
attacked for 40 and added 2 Plus powers for the kill. he put up squirtle and
bubbled but no paralyze. I retreated and put up electabuzz used a bill got
professor oak and used that, I got a plus power electric energy and my last
gust of wind. I switched his squirtle with magikarp thundershocked and
pluspowered him, you do the math. Reluctantly he put up his last squirtle
and with no energy on him or in hand he was doomed to electabuzz's
thunderpunch. Win for me
I guess I got a little descriptive in this paragraph and I
hope you will
still post my report even though I will only summarize the rest of the
tournament, since I don't want to go on for pages and I'm sure nobody wants
to read that much anyway. Please read the rest of this report since I worked
soo hard on it, even if you are not going to post it, There is something
written for you at the bottom.
The rest of the tournament was much like my first battle.
There was a
lot of gust of winding my oponent and pluspowering them for the kill. Many
of the other players ran out of pokemon which is exactly what my deck is
designed to do, kill their pokemon fast so they run out. I was in a little
trouble when I clashed with another deck very similar to mine. We were
both
attacking very quickly and neither of us had a lot of hp for these early
attacks. The deciding factor came down to a mesely little farfech'd leek
slap. He had 20 life left with a loaded electabuzz, I flipped the coin and
was victorious. My oponent was soo mad that he lost because of a coin flip.
Eventually I made it to the final round and special punched my opponent's
"Deadly" as he called them chanseys away leaving me the victor.
I won $30
and six booster packs. What a Day! Well I hope this report was
helpful for
you and you learned something from it. My final tip to you is Never Play A
Double Colorless Energy On A Benched Pokemon. You will be steaming when your
opponent busts out those Energy Removals. Good Luck and Have Fun!
