I attended the second tournament at the Toys R' Us pokemon league. The first
place prize was $30 and my rival from two weeks ago was there, Calvin. He
beat me in the finals the last week. There were fourteen people and it was
single elimination, best two out of three.

Here's the deck I used which was specifically made to beat Calvin and his
stall deck:

Muk Madness:
4 Grimer
3 Muk
4 Electabuzz
4 Magmar
3 Scyther

4 Bill
4 Energy Removal
3 Gust of Wind
3 Super Energy Removal
2 Gambler
2 Scoop Up

12 Fire Energy
10 Electric Energy
2 Double Colorless Energy

The basic strategy of this deck is to use haymaker strategy and if they are
hurting me with pokemon powers. Then I will send out Muk.

Round 1: Me V.S. A kid that looks like Snorlax

Game 1: This was a tough match. He was playing classic haymaker and his
Hitmonchan's were killing my Electabuzz's. I eventually got a Scyther. Then
he got a Scyther. It was very weird. It seemed that whatever I drew, he drew
the next turn. Luckily, I got my Magmar and finished his Scyther. I won the
game. The main difference was that I had energy removals and he didn't which
wasn't good for him.

Game 2: This was a quicker game and I got the luck of the draw. He was able
to hold up for a while, but not long enough and I won.

Game Record: 2-0
Match Record: 1-0

Round 2: Me V.S. Easy kid who thought he was good
Game 1: He had Mr. Mime which was the only good card in his deck that held up
for a while, but as soon as I got Muk it was game.

Game 2: This was a breeze. With a second round Muk out I finished it easily.
I was off to the semi-finals against my rival, Calvin.

We argued before the tourney that it was unfair to put us on the same
bracket, but the Gym Leader said that until we get better ideas of the ranks
through more tourneys it would be random.

Game Record: 4-0
Match Record: 2-0

Round 3: Me V.S. Calvin

Game 1: I had a basic strategy in this game which might sound weird, but it
was to stall him. J.R., the Gym Leader made the rule before the tourney that
if your first game didn't finish in 25 minutes than it would only be one
match. He got an Alakazam out quickly so I was in trouble, but luckily I got
Muk out quickly to save me. From then on it was pretty much my game. We were
nearing the 25 minute mark so Calvin was trying to loose quickly. I finished
off his final pokemon literally 25 seconds after the time limit. He got up
and screamed. I guess that was a little bit unfair.

Game Record: 5-0
Match Record: 3-0

Finals: Me V.S. Mike, Snorlax kid's cousin

Game 1: He was playing a weak version of haymaker and my Magmar quickly took
him out.

Game 2: He brought out Scyther, I brought out Scyther. That is all each of us
had. We had a lot of energy and energy removals in our hands, but I had one
more Super Energy Removal than him. Game, set, match.

Game Record: 7-0
Match Record: 4-0

Total Record from Tournaments:

Rank: 1st
Game Record: 15-2
Match Record: 8-1
