Hi Pojo,
My name is Court Bower and on November 28 I participated in a
14 person
tournament. The deck I played took me a week to create and refine.
Now on
to the tournament!
Date: November 28th
Place: Agents of Comics
Time: Got there at 12am, went from 1-6
Participants: 14
Rounds Played: 6
Prizes: 1st 20 dollars, 2nd 10 dollars, 3rd jungle pack
The tournament wasn't DCI ranked, which was good because alot of the kids
there were at their first tournament. Pretty much an all around freindly
tournament.
The day before the tournament I had 4 of my freinds over and we play-tested
our decks and made approproate adjustments (I ended up rebuilding 2 of their
decks and making no adjustments to mine).
The day of the tourney we all got up extra early (if 10am is extra early) and
got ready. Of corse i had to give the 5 of us a ride. We arrived 30
minutes
early and began trading.
Now on to my deck list:
POWER DOWN
4 Hitmonchan
4 Electabuzz
4 Chanseys
2 Doduos
2 Dodrios
2 Scythers
4 Super Energy Removals
4 Energy Removals
4 Bills
3 Scoop Ups
2 Gust of Winds
15 Fighting Energy
6 Electric Energy
4 Double Colorless
Match one
Me vrs Justin
He was running a fairly decent water deck which was able to
hold me off
because of articuno, but my electabuzz got up there and caused ahvoc on his
water pokemon because of their weakness.
me (1-0)
Match Two
Me vrs Brian
He was running a weird starit fighting deck that used ditto
and almost
all of the fossil fighting pokemon. Needless to say i had put Scyther in
for
just that deck, because my chanseys and electabuzzes are weak to it. The
game went very quick with Scyther opening up, an energy, and next turn double
colorless. Most of his guys were weak to grass making it a quick game.
me (2-0)
Match Three
Me vrs Ron
This game was against my good freind Ron. The day
before I had built him
a deck. He was running a water deck that used Hyperbeam and energy
removals
to stall out and kill an opponent. We both opened up with a good hand.
I
played and powered up an early Electabuzz knowing that he was playing water.
He held of the onslaught for a little, but was swept away by a fully powered
Hitmonchan.
Me (3-0)
Match Four
Me vrs Alex
He was running a modified starter deck. He had left it
fire/fighting,
but added a few fossil fighting pokemon and the fossil magmar. This game
just wasn't fair. He opened up with a good amount of pokemon, 4 to be
exact,
but lacked the energy. My Scyther made quick work of him with removals to
get rid of the little amount of energy he got.
Me (4-0)
First Final Match
Me vrs Daniel
He was running a Fire/Electric deck which had been showing
good results
all day. This was a good match, but his electabuzzes and the rest of his
electric (except Zapdos) stood no chance agaist Hitmonchan. He took his
first mulligan of the day against me while i stood holding 3 Bills. The
only
problem he had was that he couldn't flip a heads if his life depended on it.
7 flips, 7 tails. Another reason his Electabuzzes died easily.
Me (5-0)
Last Final Match
Me vs. Brian
This was an unbelievable game. I had to play my friend
for first ah!!!
It was 2 out of 3. He was running a much anticipated Rain Dance deck
(which
I built) . He opened up with a squirtle while I had an electabuzz.
Second
turn he triple professor oaks while playing another squirtle and pokemon
breeder making them both Blastoises. He also powered both of them up.
He
almost decked himself, but in the end he had 1 card left and drew his last
price.
The second and third game went unbelievably quick.
Mainly because he
only go one pokemon which was Magikrap or Squirtle. Thanks Electabuzz!!!!
me (6-0)
Awesome tourney. I placed first while my friends were in second through
fifth. I got 20 dollars store credit which I will probably use to buy
fossil. Overall we all had fun and traded a lot!
Cheers to the store owner for having a great tourney
Cheers to all my opponents for a great game played
Cheers to my friends for trading me some of the cards i used in my deck
Sneers to the kid who knocked out a leg of the table and spilled my box of
cards
