This tournament was held at Futureworld Sports in Santa Maria CA on 8/13/99.
There were 18 people and the first prize was $40 and the second prize was
$10.  It was one match rounds with single elimination.  This deck strategy is
the best one that there is, pure and simple regulation with venusaur.  I have
played against all types with this deck and it has remained effective in its
regulation tactics.

Before I tell the results of this tourney, I would like to give an amusing
anecdote about how I was inspired to make this deck.  I recently took a
little trip to New York City.  I didn't want to spend my vacation obsessing
over pokemon, but I did buy 3 packs.  To my great surprise, I got a beedrill
(my 4th) and two venusaurs (my only ones).  So I screwed my old deck of
venomoth, beedrill, and butterfree, and made this deck.  Now here's how I did
in the tourney...

Round 1: Sterling (Fire, Psychic, and Electric)

This was a must win situation, because everyone hates this kid and I would
disgrace all if I lost to him.  The game started out horribly, I had crap and
he got charizard fully energized early in the game, but instead of killing me
early, he stalled  and built up his charizard more when he finally sent him
out, I had him kill two weedles to waste energy and sent out ivysaur and
through poison and vine whip, I killed charizard.  Soon after, I got Venusaur
and he got no energy so I regulated.

Round 2: Alex (Electric)

I don't remember this one very well but I know that he got at least three
prizes with electrode and electabuzz but with the help of scyther and lots of
pokemon centers I managed to get a venusaur and regulate once more.

Round 3: I forgot his name (Fire)

This guy really had me on my defense for a  while, but luckily I was able to
defend because I started with my good friend lickitung.  For a long time, it
was just his rapidash doing stomp to me and getting tails I used pokemon
center at least once but eventually, he got out arcanine and I had hit it
once with lickitung, but then he stupidly used take down putting him to 60 hp
and killing lickitung.  Next turn I brought out a venusaur and killed him.
Maybe I'm not really good, just lucky.  Nonetheless, regulation was mine
again.

Round 4: Adam (good raindance deck made primarily of my cards)

This guy was one of my best friends. This round was for a spot in the finals.
Luckily, we both were going to buy the same thing with the prize money, so I
didn't matter who won this game.  It started out with me with lickitung and
him with kangaskan.  Many turns later, after the fall of kangaskan and the
damaging of a seel, he sends out snorlax.  During whole game so far, I manage
to get out two venusaurs, a beedrill, a scyther, and another lickitung fully
powered on my bench.  He so far has gotten a partly damaged dewgong, a
blastoise, and a gyarados on his bench, and he had enough energy to power
them all.  However, I had a card advantage because he oaked twice and I only
oaked once.  So after an incredibly long game I am the victor.

Final Round: Dave (the store owner using a fire and fighting deck)

I totally thought that I would lose this one.  I have to give the turn by
turn for this one.  I had two energy, a bulbasaur, ivysaur, a weedle, and two
oaks.  He goes first sending out a hitmonchan against my bulbasaur and hits
for 20.  I retreat and send weedle.  He hits weedle for 20.  I play ivysaur
and oak.  I get lots of energy and a scyther (my savior).  I hit for 10 with
weedle and don't poison.  He doesn't get a fighting energy ,but he gust of
winds ivysaur and  hits for twenty.  I retreat again and send out scyther.
At this point, he can only hit me for ten a turn.  Every turn I use swords
dance and hope for the best.  He uses a super energy removal on me, but I
eventually use swords dance, and get a chance to attack for 60.  I don't know
what went through my head, but I didn't kill hitmonchan, and gust of winded
out his mankey and killed it instead.  After I did that, I thought that I was
screwed, but the next turn, I got venusaur, retreated scyther, played an
energy, moved it all to venusaur and killed his hitmonchan, which was his
only pokemon.

So I won the $40 and bought a bunch of sourcebooks for the Star Wars RPG
(cool game).  I give the MVP award to lickitung.  He is definitely my new
favorite stalling pokemon by far.  He is a must have.  Thank you for bearing
with me and actually reading this entire thing.
