8/21
I played on the first Saturday of the Pokemon league here in Phoenix, AZ at
All
About Books and Comics.  I started off taking the test and became a
certified coach
so I spent the first half hour of the league teaching little kids how to
play and make
decks.  The last hour and a half I played against the people with decks that
had been
winning.  I bought a jungle booster when I arrived which had a wigglytuff in
it, so I
decided to modify my grass deck to add jigglypuffs and my two wigglytuffs --
which
was a good move because it gave me a chance to beat all the kids playing
with fire.
Here's my deck:

3x jigglypuff
2x wigglytuff
3x bellsprout
2x weepinbell
1x victribell
3x nidoran female
1x nidoran male (i want to swap this for another Scyther when I find one)
2x nidorina
1x nidoqueen
1x scyther
1x chansey = 20 pokemon
3x bill
1x Prof Oak
2x plus power
3x potion
2x super potion
2x gust of wind
1x pokemon trader
3x double colorless energy
23 grass energy

Round1 -- Josh playing fighting.  I made the deck for this kid before
playing him, and
it worked pretty well because of my puff/tuff's weakness -- I used nodorans
until I
evolved into nidoqueen.  When she came out I beat his Hitmonchan. Machamp
beat
my Nidoqueen, but I had two powered-up weepinbells waiting.  After that he
only
had little pokemon left and I won.
1-0

Round2 -- Jason -- this kid had some good pokemon, a water/fighting deck.  I
got
my wigglytuff going early and beat his two wartortles before they could
evlove.  He
knocked out wiggly with his rhydon, but out came a powered-up Scyther and
knocked out Rhydon with a plus power.  Everything else fell before the
mighty
scyther until Dewgong came out.  Chansey stalled until I got my victribell
out so I
double edged dewgong and  poisoned his last pokemon - a weak onix - for the
win.
2-0

Round3
Eli  a fighting/fire deck.  Scyther was my only basic which he knocked out
in two
turns with a Charmander -- ugh.
2-1

Round4
Brad a fire only deck i think.  This kid was annoying, all hyper and kept
saying how
irritated he was at my Scyther.  That's because I got it going in two turns
with a
double colorless.  I slashed/sword danced through his first three vulpix (he
never got
a heads to confuse me) until he got a charmeleon to knock out scyther.  I
had a full
bench and a wigglytuff waiting.  Wasted his two Magmar and last charmeleon
with
the wave.  His deck was undefeated before playing me.
3-1

Round5
???  this kid had a psychic deck.  My jiggly/wiggly combination gave him
nightmares.  He brought out Mr Mime first against jigglypuff -- ouch!  He
had luck
with gust of winds and a Kadabra until I got a clue and stopped putting
nidoran on
the bench.  Chansey knocked out kadabra with a double edge and again against
a
Jynx.  I finally got out wigglytuff and took my last two prizes pretty
quickly against
Abra and another jynx.  That was lucky - his next draw was a Mewtwo.
4-1

Round6&7
Eli again.  We were the top two of the day and played for the spoils -- two
jungle
booster packs and a first edition elctabuzz.  It was an opposite of the
first time we
played.  I got Scyther going fast and he only had an energyless Hitmonchan.
Over in
three turns.  We decided to do a tie-breaker round since we beat each other
so
easily.  I start out with a good draw and get wigglytuff going fast and I
kncok out a
charmeleon and two ponytas.  He finally gets his Hitmonchan going and takes
out my
tuff and two more jigglys.  I bring out chansey and get heads on a scrunch.
The next
turn I can double edge and knock out hitmonchan  We run out of time with
this
match, but I win with two prizes left to his three.

I got a holo victribell in one of the jungle packs and a non-holo snorlax in
the other --
nice!
